Whats the best enchantment for staff damage?

While I know this could be determined by alot of outside things such as racial bonuses, attribute points and maybe food stuff, what is the best rule of thumb if you want to do alot of staff damage? Is one element more damaging than the others? Which traits give the most bag for your buck for damage. For these questions I am needing 2 answers, one for PVE and one for PVP.

PvE Disease is good, so is Poison. Although Flame can be quite nice to have too, on a Flame Staff. Some like to mix the elementals (Flame on a Ice staff for instance)

You seem to be discussing both traits and enchants.

For traits in PvP, either Nirnhoned or Sharpened. Sharpened seems to be the favorite right now.

For traits in PvE, I don't know. I just use the same trait as I use in PvP.

For enchants in PvP: I would just add to the above that if you are a sorc, historically lightning enchants can proc disintegration. However, I haven't tested that in 1.6.

Precise is better for PvE. Then Sharpened I imagine if you have a decent amount of Critical Chance already.

Actually you are wrong. Nirnhoned is far superior to precise. Cant talk about without 12% crit from champ though. But I guess nirn is still better.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about viable traits here. Not traits that are only available to end game grinders or people with more gold than they know what to do with.

The spell penetration is nice, but can be duplicated with the CS so that is the other reason why I don't bother with it.

What does Nirnhoned do? I haven't found any gear with this yet.

On weapons it gives extra Spell Penetration and Spell Resistance.

You can duplicate these effects with the Champion System. In fact, with some characters I have, they are the only viable choices in the constellation compared to what the other's offer. On a character that could benefit from different CS choices, then it's nice to have.

Nirnhoned is not so difficult to get. With the changes in PvP, I went-a-farming to increase spell resistance on gear. I had 4 fortified and 2 potent after about 6 hours over the span of a week and a half. Doing writs/surveys and harvesting.
