How has this not been noticed / fixed?

lllsondowlllb14_ESO
I am a returning beta tester that finally decided to purchase the game with the launch of Tamriel Unlimited. So far I've been very happy with my experiences as well as all the bugs that have been worked out over the coarse of 6 updates. However, one thing eludes me: how has no one noticed the character's mouth moves when the horse whinnies, and how has this small (yet noticeable) bug made it past SIX major updates? This certainly is not game breaking or anything of that nature, but you would think someone would have pointed out the character's seemingly ventriloquistic nature.

Honestly I never noticed this :) On the other hand sprinting with a horse w/o stamina is a thing 90% of the players know about at least, and it is annoying they dont fix it. Not sure if this is a new bug or not, since I'm a new player.

I noticed this myself. I was wondering if it was a game mechanic that would pan out later. Say if I increase the speed of my horse, then the diminished stamina bar would drop to the same sprint speed it does now. If that is not the case, than I would bet that is a pretty big bug.

Nah, even with speed upgrades, your speed is not changing after you run out of stamina, so yea, it's a pretty big and noticable bug.

    Not a bug!

Sprinting on your mount without stamina is intended and working as it should be. Stamina is used for when you get attacked while on your horse - if you have enough stamina it is harder for an enemy to knock you off your horse. If your stamina is depleted while sprinting you will get knocked off easily.

The horse sprinting without stamina is not a bug, the stamina acts like your horses health and prevents you from being knocked off your horse by enemies. I have not noticed my character's mouth move when my horse whinnies but I'll keep an eye out for this.

um... horse sprint without stam I do not think is a bug.

When a horse is out of stam and you get hit, you fall off. If it has stam, you won't get knocked off until it runs out.

The mount stamina is working as intended. Yes, holding sprint will allow you to sprint with the horse for as long as you like, but you can only initiate that sprint by kicking the horse (pressing shift). If you're out of stamina, you cannot kick the horse to increase your gallop speed and sprint again. Also, being attacked will drain your stamina, and if you're out of stamina one hit will knock you off your mount.

The other thing though with the mouth movement.. never noticed. Will have to check it out.

With all that aside. The character making horse noises is pretty entertaining, but I can confirm that is EXACTLY what is happening. It seems that Zenimax has failed to separate the character from the mount; therefore, they use the same speech animation. The fact this has made it past beta and two years after release is a little funny to me.

I like the falling off mechanic u just mentioned based on my horse's stamina, but I think it would make more sense if my horse would stop running and would be forced to walk w/o stamina, just like how my char works.

I just tried this in game with a few different mounts and I'm not really seeing it... Which mount are you using?

As others have said, the sprint is working as intended. The mount ventriloquism is kinda fun as bugs go. Probably not touched because its a small thing many haven't even noticed and risking breaking other stuff isn't worth it.

I'd be interested to hear an explanation of why it happens though, just for curiosity's sake :)

I checked and can now confirm this is happening for me as well. Funny I never noticed this before, I guess I'm usually too busy watching where I'm going so I don't fall off a cliff.

Pretty much just any horse. Settings on max, third person zoomed in on face, and just wait for the idle animation. Your character will make horse noises...

Oh yeah lol. I double checked and see what you mean now. That's hilarious.

As some have said sprinting without stamina is intended but another thing many people don`t know is that by repeatedly hitting your sprint key you can make your mount sprint even faster! This drains stamina very quickly and is another reason why mounts have a stamina pool. not just for the being hit and dismounted mechanic which of course also is stamina based.
