How often do you use First Person view?

1st person view makes me feel a bit claustrophobic.

I really like it in Skyrim, but in MMO's it is quite different. You need to be more aware of your surroundings, especially when grouping or doing instances, and you simply can't have the same situation awareness through 1st person as you can through 3rd person view.

What I want to see is a 2nd person view...

!st person always, unless the game dictates otherwise, like when mounted.

I don't like the "omniscient" view; "I can see enemies directly behind me, behind the rocks, or up on the ledge" just doesn't feel right to me when I'm playing a single character. When playing a party, like in Dragon Age:Origins being able to zoom out to control a situation is indispensable.

I used to use it exclusively, but I found combat to be much easier in 3rd person: I can watch my own back.

100% of the time. And for those who ask me "Well, what about AoE spells?", here's a tip: If an enemy is looking at you and winding up a cast or channeling, you know the target is you (if he was looking at your buddy off to your left, he would face him).

In order to play first person, you gotta learn how facing works. Remember the golden rule:

"If a guy looks at you and he's hostile, you're probably his target."
If you can't handle the heat...stay out of the kitchen!

I've never been a big fan of first person view in any game, to be honest. Well, OK, it was cool in Wolfenstein, but that's largely because it was a novelty to me then. I played all of Skyrim in 3rd person, and I pretty much always play ESO in 3rd person too.

On rare occasions I'll zoom in to first person in order to better see things in enclosed areas, or sometimes when I'm on top of a cliff or tower or something and want to take a quick immersive look around as if I was actually there.

I've got a friend who is also a veteran of previous TES games, and he plays exclusively in first person view, which I didn't realize until a few of us had an ESO day over at my house (we spent all day drinking beer, eating bean dip, and running dungeons - it was awesome!). I'm pretty amazed at how much situational awareness he actually manages to have, even with the complete lack of peripheral vision that comes with first person. He's constantly looking around everywhere to make sure he knows which mobs are coming at him from different angles, where red zones are, etc. I need third person view to be aware of all of that.

As often as I can, but combat and the simple inconvenience of scrolling in and out for different circumstances keeps me from doing it as often as I'd like.

So much more immersive in 1st person, can appreciate the details a lot more.

It's funny that I originally wasn't going to play ESO unless it have a 1 st person view, but after getting killed too many times, I switched to 3rd person view and never looked back.

Now I can't imagine playing ESO in the 3rd person view. You have a better situational awareness, especially when fighting mobs.

First Person is very useful in tanking, when a boss too big, or too much mobs around, its easier to taunt or get mob with chains from FPV.

To much damage in the game that cannot be avoided if you cannot see your feet. Monitor view does not mimic real world visibility.

Only when not in combat. I feel I don't get the situational awareness I need with mobs unless I'm in 3rd person.

So if I'm questing or exploring then 1st person, but even that is limited as riding your mount is 3rd person.

Never. Only when the camera is forced into a first person view is my screen just a pair of hands.

When I discovered that I could go into third person view in Morrowwind, I exclusively used that.

Why give a detailed character creation when you don't even see your character? Makes no sense to me. I don't care about "showing off" to someone else....it's MY sense of aesthetics I'm trying to please.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I tried to use first person all the time, then I realised it was really bad in ESO. I use it always in Skyrim because its more immersive. But in ESO its just crap, and hard to see where my friends are and everything. So now I hardly ever use it. It's a sad reminder to me that this game is not Skyrim with friends.

almost all the time, although - over the last couple months, i've begun to experiment with third person in some situations.

it IS interesting to watch yourself fight and there's a defnite improvement in what you can see and react to as a player.

each method has a completely difference 'feel' and rhythm in combat.
