Would you like to see Alchemy reworked?

Back in Skyrim, we had the option to add a third flower/plant to an alchemical reaction, to increase the chances of getting a chemical match.

Would you like to see something like that in ESO?

Yes, I would like the option to add a third plant. However, there could be some things that I'm not aware of...

UMM, you can already add a third plant, when you unlock the right passive

    Passive Laboratory Use
Allows the use of up to 3 reagents when crafting potions.

You can make a tri pot with three plants. You will need three plants and will have a pot with three effects. Most famous is columbine+bugloss+mountain flower. What is this about?

You must not have your alchemy leveled up very far. There is a passive that lets you combine 3 plants. It's how people are able to craft tri-pots that have 3 effects (like the most common one, made with bugloss, mountain flower, and columbine, and which restores all 3 attributes).

Didn't vote because it already exists in game.

Although.. I would like that once I attempt a potion that does not work.. if I try to make that potion again it would tell me that!

Yes, it would tell me that the potion would fail, because you know, my character should know that if it failed before. However the schlub behind the keyboard may not have had his coffee yet, so I need to be reminded.

I don't like the idea, adding a third plant would open up a potion that could give back all 3 resources at once...lets call these supposed potions "triple potions" Now the triple potion would completely ruin the crown shop market because no one would buy crowns for potions and thus destroy immersion.

Now that's a terrible idea. One of the things I like about these forums is helping people out by answering questions they have, or by giving them insight into aspects of the game that they may have missed. Not everyone playing the game is an expert, and even experts miss things and have questions. Frankly, the less experience a player has, the more likely I am to reply to a post from him/her, because I'd like to be able to be helpful and make a difference (and also because their views on things can often be very refreshing, compared to the views of seasoned and sometimes bitter veterans).

Agree with UrQuan - it should be normal questions and normal answers for the normal people. This is the purpose of the forums. It is a pity that this forum resembles holy war more than some quiet and tranquil place where people can politely discuss issues and ask questions and will not be ridiculed for doing this...

Ummm.... you can already make them. And they've said that the crown store potions will never be as powerful as those.

I just don't get Alchemy. I had to use a website to figure out Enchanting.

I have a collection of plants.
You can randomly guess and make this or this or maybe this.

    I want:
I want to make stam pot. Give me a list of plants to drag to the table

Alchemy requires you put in a bit of effort into learning the properties of the plants. Then combining the ones for the effect that you want. It's just that simple. And you don't have to randomly guess- you just have to research.

I have tried and have reviewed the crafting guide on a number of websites.
It's the whole additive and the random procs that can come from it.

    Sigh.

Q: So, once I've learned a variety of plants and what they do, I should be able to successfully and repeatedly craft whatever potion I want? i.e. if I use plant x,y,z today, it will always make the same pot?

Yes, that is the case. I don't know where you got that it was random... it's definitely not.

    http://tamrieljournal.com/alchemy-simulator/

That's just one of many alchemy simulators.

And for an example for you, if you want to make a tri-pot, use Bugloss, Columbine, and Mountain Flower. That will get you a tri-pot all the time.

Each ingredient has 4 different effects. If you combine positive effects, they will get you that ability. If you combine negative effects, they will put that negative on it. And if you combine a positive and a negative, they will cancel each other out. It's not that difficult. And it's not random.
