Dolmens (Dark Anchors) should be more difficult and interesting

I've posted about this before but I still just feel like Dolmens are a missed opportunity in some ways. They are fun, and people are always willing to do them, but they're too easy which takes away from how fun they could be. If you're soloing one it's fairly challenging but get one or two other people in there and it's just a cake walk .

A few suggestions to make Dolmens more difficult and interesting:
  • Increase the mob difficulty overall
  • If left unattended, let the number of mobs at the Dolmen increase and spread out (to a limited extent), requiring more players to tackle it
  • Make the loot reward at the end better

Considering how easy PvE is throughout regular zones, I don't think making Dolmens harder would be too out of line. The only other public areas that offer some challenge in regular zones are public dungeons. Imagine a Dolmen growing in strength and having Daedra wondering the landscape around it, and needing to band a bunch of players together to take it out. That would be awesome!

They indeed used to be just as difficult as you suggest, but they nerfed them, and the entirety of pve was nerfed. Now in some places, it was needed, but dolmens and world bosses should be raised in difficulty. at any level i can solo both, and im pretty sure its not skill

OMG yes! It's pretty sad my VR1 can solo dolmens in Cyrodil! I understand a lot of game content was nerfed down because people were complaining, but some content just should not be possible to do alone, unless of course you are a much higher level...

I always found it odd the dolmens are at fixed places. If you know where they are, why not post some guards around them and prevent the wormcult to activate it eh?

Would be more fun if it was random spawns coming from the skies. Yes maybe there would be some clipping issues with anchors going through trees and roofs but who cares.

Maybe a limit of 5 anchors per area and if no destroyed, deadra flood the world the longer the dolmens are active (to a limit) so the world would actually feel dangerous and dark with the dark anchors down.

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I give you a challenge... Do dolmens in cyro, the vr 12 mobs are more fun and the chance to get bosses is higer than in other zones, i got the gigant dragon daedra 2 times this week and is a hell of a fight if you are alone

Yeah, pretty much. I get why PvE difficulty is what it is for the most part. But every time I see a Dolmen I get all stoked and then once it's over it's like... oh... that's it? Lame and anticlimactic.

That's a good suggestion, will definitely give it a shot.

^^Sounds fun right up until I'm about to execute that "gigant dragon daedra" and someone with nothing better to do ganks me.

I totally agree. Increase the difficulty of higher level dolmens. Keep them simple in the lowbie zones, so that new folks can get their footing, but it'd be nice to see the mechanics of the higher level content get a little trickier.

Haha.. yeah. While that is just part of being in an open PvP zone, I think you have a good point that brings up some of the imbalance between PvE difficulty between regular zones and Cyrodiil.

PvE in Cyrodiil actually feels pretty good difficulty wise, whether it's doing Dolmens as suggested above, or other stuff. The thing is, we need some of that same difficulty level in regular PvE zones for the times when we don't want to risk being ganked in the middle of something.

Me I would like to see the dolmens require the 4 pinions to be release then touch the dolmen and it shoots you up into the shackle room and clear that to hit the last pinion to withdraw it then gate back to the ground before it closes. with everyone getting credit for the last pinion by gating down before the connection is destroyed. I never quite understood all the deadra that come slamming to the ground afterwards part of it. There should always be a boss mob in the shackle room too.

    That would be awesome.

And I think the falling daedra were ones mid planetravel or in the anchor room who were sucked out, and due to the loss of stability of the anchor, were not able to form/ maintain a physical form.
This one has an eloquent and well thought out response to tha... Ooh sweetroll!
