I made a poll on this topic yesterday.

I dont know what ZO$ did to that poll, but it will not move up in the forum list no matter how many people comment on it. It is not locked, it is not closed, it will simply not bump to the front page. It has 4 new coments as of today. But it is still on page 10. It also says that the last coment was yesterday.

If its a bug, fine. But I highly doubt it. They dont want anyone to see that poll. Slimy tactic ZO$.

Very interesting... Yes, I've had my share of warnings and others banned by pushing heated topics too hard. I think mine was something to the tune of "conspiracy theories and talking negative about them and/or their employees". Of course the TOS are sufficiently broad enough to give them the flexibility they need to do this and still sleep well at night. I'm not saying they're corrupt, just that they are too heavy-handed when topics put them in the hot seat. I don't sweat this too much because there's so much more they've no control over

They have the ability to "sink" topics. ie: not close them, but turn off where new posts bump threads to the top. They have said as much on different threads. You seem to have gotten the silent sink.

I always love the "$" people use to indicate dissatisfaction with a company. Do you think that companies exist in a capitalist market to not earn money? What, exactly, do you want them to do (aside from provide everything for free and give in to every petty whim of the players who complain enough)?

The problem with this argument is that it gets used to excuse any behavior so long as it improves the bottom line. It's a bit like saying, "well, sure that busload of nuns plowed through a day care center, but that's what buses do, they go places. What did you expect?"

Here's the thing, they're already getting money. As I said in another thread on this subject: if this was a F2P game, and ZOS hadn't seen any money from me yet? You know what? The problem is, this isn't a free game. The people who are playing have spent out of pocket to buy the box. They may be subscribers. I am. Though, I'm seriously reconsidering that position right now. So, Zenimax is already seeing money from me. And has received payment from everyone else playing the game. (Not counting press or comped copies.)

ZOS has said "no in game advertising for the Crown Store." Not, literally in those words, you can dig up the actual quote, though the effect is similar. And, that's reasonable. We're still paying money for the game. If we wanted to fire up a game like Star Trek Online or Neverwinter... you know what? We'd deserve the in game advertising we got. But, here? After they said they weren't going to do that?

What I'd like is the product I was paying for. The product they were making money on. Not getting slapped around with in game ads every 60 minutes over a National Weirdness Day that no one remembers exists including your calender.

Yes, they're here to make money. This is a good way to reduce the amount of money they make. Good play.

Just think if they had actually made the game better, fix bugs add content would they have to do this. Zen screwed up the game, now they need to recover some money.

I'm surprised that so many people are up in arms over a system message. The game is subscription free now btw. I wonder how many people that are outraged over a system message actually subscribe. People can be so petty. Subscriber or not, it's a system message. I don't see a reason to get the pitchforks.

It doesn't really matter. The complainers only need it to happen once to trigger a mass meltdown. Now that I think of it, it doesn't matter what is is either. Although I do support @Gidorick concerning the real world pseudo holiday )), I've no pitchfork in my hand. I love this game and want ZOS to not market to subscribers, but new and/or B2P customers instead. They already have my money. Since I know they read the forums and they ask us for feedback, I'm giving them feedback.

to be clear, the meassage didn't ruin my day or moment. I did want ZOS to know that myself and others did not like it. No harm in sharing that. Players freaking out over it, yeah that would be unreasonable.

As far as I know it only popped up once. It didn't pop up every time I logged on or anything. I thought it was silly when it flashed up on screen but it was really brief and again, only did it once to my knowledge so I don't think it's worth complaining over. Now if it flashed up multiple times for other people throughout the day I could see that being a bit ridiculous.

What you're missing is a trajectory issue. If I was okay with in game advertising, I'd probably still be playing Star Trek Online. I'm not. And if this is the direction ESO is heading... it's not going to end up being a game I want to play. If this was a stray GM setting something up as a joke... fine, fire their ass, throw them under the bus, and put this to bed. But... they haven't said any of that.

If ZOS really wants to throw the Crown Store in my face like this... fine, I can find something else to do with my time.

Two comments....

1) This is the weekend. It is so rare for them to say anything on the weekend, other than "patch tomorrow", that I can't remember the last time they did. If it happens after 6pm Friday, ZOS will not comment until Monday, if they comment at all.

2) I would not expect a comment from them. If it was intentional, they won't say anything because the facts speak for themselves. If it was not intentional, a joke or something else, they won't say anything because, well, none of our business.

You're not saying anything I'm unaware of. Just, with something like this, silence is just about the worst way to handle the situation.

You couldnt be more wrong. I was and still am against the removal of the sub fee. IRL...I am in sales. There are many effective ways to market to current and potential clients. This is a poor tactic on there part and I have no problem calling them out on it. Thanks for your ass-umptions though.

I have no pitchfork in hand. I have every right to voice what I do not like and why, just like you have a right to your opinion that we are being petty. It wasn't a system message. It was an advertisement. Big difference. And the game isn't exactly sub-free. There is still the option to sub and many people still do.
