It's time to once again ask why shields are not dye-able. I can understand the reasoning behind weapons not being dye-able, the paint would come off very quickly.
Shields however, we should be able to dye. As opposed to armor, they actually were frequently painted to show the colors of the house the soldiers were fighting for. I believe shields in ESO would make an excellent carrier for guild crests. Also, I really dislike having this large surface that does not match the rest of my armor.
As far as weapons go, I still feel the hilts should be freely dye-able, while there should be a limited selection of metallic colors for the blades. Anything in the gray-scale/gold/bronze area seems fine to me.
Additionally, I submit for your approval: The Sheath.
Freely dye-able and included with every obtained weapon for your convenience, this stylish piece of innovative technology is not just a pretty accessory, but will drastically reduce the number of unintended self-inflicted stab wounds to legs and lower backs for all those who make use of it!
Now, obviously this would only make sense for swords and daggers, but the fury of axe and hammer wielding barbarians will be kept in check as long as there's the creative outlet of hilts and blades/hammerheads to be recolored.
TL;DR:
- Make shields dye-able and/or have the option of carrying guild heraldry
- Offer a limited selection of colors for weapons
- Introduce dye-able sheaths
Thanks for reading, discuss.
