Ive never played on the NA server but on EU. I have seen that the EU-servers is pretty good active. I play solo, but never had an issue with doing a dolmen cause other people show up too or are already waiting. In public dungeons I also only have to wait max 5 minutes for one or two more players to run through it together.

Also the guilds on EU are fun and nice. So all in all, it seems that it is just a rumour. I don't think that it is worth the sacrifice (playing on off times for your server).
Through me you pass into the city of woe:
Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.

I really wish we would only have one server. I've so many friends playing on North American that I'd like to play with!

But the EU server are not dead, far from it. The NA players, such as Deltia and Mav that came on EU server to create characters were amazed to see how friendly the community was and how nice are the people. I answered them "of course we are nice!"
It's just that you have less Youtubers, and Streamers that are well known on Eu servers. Doesn't mean EU is less active.

I'm playing on the Daggerfall Covenant and everything is fine! You can add me in game if you like to have a chat! ;)

I would highly advise against it, I know enough people who have reasoned like you and then had to re-level from scratch on the EU server once they realise that there's a 6-9 hour time difference.. :D

In your evenings / primetime it will be empty since the americans haven't even got home from work.

Thats just because zenimax doesnt promote us. They only tend to promote american yt folks. Which is damn sad. Whatever.

I'm an American living in Munich and have tried both.

The EU server is more polite but Europe is more polite and certainly more civilized. But that's a bit too obvious.

The scale of activity on the NA server is different. For RP it's another universe but only if you like large scale productions and are fond of the Ebonheart Pact.

Regarding economies, there's more sheer activity in that realm on the NA server and prices are much lower. Gold enhancements, however, have come up in price on both servers.....still lower on the NA version.

What makes it difficult for someone living in Europe, however, is the time zone difference. ESO has far less planned activity among its guilds than other online games largely because required group sizes for PvE are small and, thus, hard to organize for a large group. PvP is often chaotic. But if an NA guild does organize it will, of course, favor NA time zones.

For Cyrodiil you may find it easier to get into on the NA server due to the hours you may be playing.

A guild I belong to ran an all day, all night Cyrodiil event beginning early afternoon Pacific time and 10PM my local time. Chillrend felt like it was drinking its morning coffee as we were going in. We took two keeps and their facilities with a low experience bunch, interrupted only by one exceptional player who wiped us a couple of times before becomming bored with us I think. I love watching good players at work, even if they're kicking our backsides, but it's a better situation to learn that part of the game than coming out of a long queue in prime time.

No online game in history has ever had such a preponderance of solo focused customers. If ESO is your first ES game you will find this puzzling and often frustrating but solo is how this IP has been experienced and consumed for decades. But if you prefer solo play with available group help here and there on a flash basis then you will find that on either server but more readily due to sheer numbers on the NA one.

The most pronounced difference between the two is performance. You will have roughly twice the ping time to the NA server yet fewer incidents of game interrupting latency than on the EU server. Ultimately this is why I play mostly on the NA server.

    Welcome and good luck! :)

That's not really true. You need to contact them if you have content to share or have someone contacting them for you promoting your content.
I'm regularly promoted by Zenimax and I've even been invited on the ESOLive, I'd hope that it's because I'm so awesome, but I'm realist and I know I must have ben promoted by some nice soul back in the days. ;)

Did that quite often without response.

the EU server is quite busy. The game has opened up and the city;s are full again (both NA and EU).
I'm in a guild that has people from allover europe, and indeed earlier mentioned time difference will make EU easier to play.

How do I join that guild?

From my POV I would simply say "Play a character on both". I have 16 characters ("I'm not an Altoholic. Seriously. :D") and it really depends on why you're playing. You may find that the ping is higher on one or the other Server since my experience of EU is that the routers don't communicate as well as those in the US but you're already in the EU system and will have a much better connection. It's not a game to truly encourage socialising as the guild/group tools are poor, phasing is finicky and quests are easily completable at level, so, until you reach VR, it's not vital which Server you are on and, when you do reach VR, the time that you play at, will determine how busy the server is.

    #Edit: Gorram it! Punctuation!

Any server you pick will have loads of people on it. As with any game, you will find jerks and nice people. Just ignore the ones that bother you and have fun with the rest of us! I'm on the NA server and our group runs with anyone. We've grouped with people in Brazil, Canada, Australia and South America. I look forward to meeting people from other countries as well

Hi, I'm from Norway and I'm buying the game in a couple of days and I was planning to join the North American server instead of the European server because I've heard there are so much more people there and guilds and more fun on the american server. Is this true or just a rumour?

    Based on my own perspective,

    NA:

    +

People more friendly & less stressed out about tiny issues
Less language barriers than in EU
Players are usually a bit older and "on their own"
EU players are rare so you are a bit special to them and have to answer many questions in chat
Future friends that you can visit :o

    -

Tough Timezones for guilds, especially as a EU based player (5-6 hours to the East coast guilds, up to 9-10 to the Westcoast)
    Pings about 100-150
Not much going on if you come home from work in the evening

    EU

    +

Less issues with timezones, unless you are from Siberia
    Lots of Scandinavian players
    Pings around 40-60

    -

    More minors than on NA
Not much activity in the early morning (for shift workers a bit problematic)

In conclusion, you can find nice people on both worlds, but if you want to raid or run group content, picking EU seems more plausible. In the end you can make chars on both servers and see for yourself. ;)

I'm NA server and EU looks like so much fun! And the people seem nice and friendly. Their EP seems more poppin' than ours. Prob just a grass is greener type deal.

NA is okay but people can be rude and AD has largest population by far. But there are definitely people who play from Europe. I just worry about your lag. And idk about raiding / pvp the times might be inconvenient for you.

The EU server is very active, and by the sounds of it our PvP is much more balanced when it comes to population. I am hearing the NA scene is EP dominated right now on the main campaign? Which is surprising considering at release i remember every one and their mother signing up for AD.
