I think age should not be a factor to judge who found a way to fun in video games. What's more, within the various types of entertainment, is one of the most complete. Increases cognitive and perceptual capacity becoming a mental exercise.

You do not just sit to watch or listen, you are part of what happens, you have to pay attention, you have to make decisions, one has to think how, when and where to perform a particular action. There is no age to play video games, just the desire to do so.

That said, TESO TU is an amazing game.

It is true, has many things to improve, but from my point of view in the state that is today exceeds by far any other game on the market.

History, aesthetics, dialogs, animations, music ....

They managed to bring to life a fantasy world without falling into the ridiculous or absurd. TESO is the first game that makes me feel that I do not need a ground or flying mount to move around the game world.

I love that the NPC does not stand out over other users and merge with the crowd. I find compelling small stories and anecdotes of different NPC that I meet in my travels.

I enjoy small things like standing next to a campfire playing my lute, dancing with others who are celebrating, enter a tavern and feel that special atmosphere that characterizes them. Reaching a village after an adventure and start listening to the bard songs ...

Being at the base of a Dark Anchor alone, wondering if it will be possible to face the challenge and suddenly see that far other heroes are close and joined in battle ...

Still face death with little life, knowing that next hit of NPC can be fatal and suddenly see that other players who spent moving away change course and join the battle allowing me to recover and move on ...

And this is just the beginning, we have a long way to go and is very promising.

Ooooh I remember how excited I was when I brought the upgrade card for my Amiga 500 meaning it had a whole MB of memory......

Funny how I remember being astonished by the graphics........

We brought the Amiga because my at the time 1yr old daughter would need a computer to use for school work.......... roflmao......

We also further down the line brought my middle child..... a boy..... a F1 scalextrics set because he would love it......

I believe he was around 3months old at the time!

It's great when you can use your kids as an excuse for buying fun stuff!!

Yeah, the game is fun. My wife and I play our main characters cooperatively.

I hear you OP, I got a year on you, my first game was on a trs-80 level 1 cassette tape called Dungeons of Magdar, black and white and stick figures. I loved my C64, and all the little tricks you could do to them.

I enjoy eso and the graphics are every nice compared to other mmo's.

@Betahkiin , I don't think it's being used as a factor so much as an observation.

Some that started playing even 5 years ago have no concept of how far things have come.

And 30 years from now, when they look at videos of this overall-well-done game with comments about how slow and hideous it looks (compared to +30 yr tech), they'll sit back and go "Oh."

The best game you have ever played... Really when I play this game it only makes me more excited to play the next real elder scrolls game. Have you ever played skyrim? I am 100% sure if you like this game youd like skyrim more.

Sinclair Spectrum - jet set willy and manic miner...peeking and poking from magazines.
Amiga 500 ..then PCs

ESO is indeed a beautiful thing...all the more appreciated when you appreciate how far things have come

Cheers to the OP! It is a great game! It does have some issues here and there, a space for improvement. But for all out there who loves TES universe - this game is a jewel!

Yeah, i´ve played Oblivion and Skyrim , i love then both, but what i like a it a lot that in ESO are running all these other people around , in other words....: the mixture of SP and MMO, ....i love it to see all these different kind of armors, names and avatars....and the bit of chaos that there reigns...its a bit like in an ant-castle ..

Nice to stumble upon this thread!
I had an Amiga 2000 and 1200. My first game was Dungeon Master, and I was hooked for life. I remember staying up until the wee hours with graph paper tracing out the dungeon maps. I feel the same sense of enthrallment with ESO, and at times I'll reflect on what I might have felt in those bygone days if I could have had a glimpse of these worlds we're adventuring in now.

Dungeon Master had torches that would flicker out over time. Now that was scary. I'd like to see that implemented in the dungeons and delves of ESO.

Besides that I think its amazing that someone "older" is still digging computer games. It reminds me a bit of people coming to the club who are not in the twens anymore, still being able to put every teen into shame for their dance moves.

Keep it going, always appreciated to see people not fitting the usual "must be this to do that" in this world. We need many more of you, people who do what they enjoy and not what´s called "appropriate for them" by our society.

Lol. No but seriously I give ZOS a whole lot of unfriendly criticism for their lazy design choices that have, are, and continue to plaque the game. Everything they do is a bandaid or duct tape fix with all major development no where to be found. Now I know these boys and girls are working at a studio, day in day out, but I don't see the product of that work. I see quick fixes and knee jerk game balancing. The running joke with ZOS since before the game even launched has been for every one thing they "fix" they break seven more things. The devs come off like they're more focused on the expediency of their work rather than the quality of their work.

That said ESO is very dear to me, in a way only DAoC was before. It feels like home. Yeah the ZOS landlord sucks, and won't fix stuff that's broken because they don't have the time/money/personnel/whatever, but it's still home. Yeah some things don't work, yeah there's problems with the architecture and design, and yeah they very much cut a whole bunch of corners building the place, but it's my crappy digital home. I don't suffer myself any delusions about it's shortcomings, I just enjoy it at the moment. I only just came back a month ago, mere days before 1.6, because after 5 long months of them having their heads jammed way up their asses, I heard a loud pop at last, and the ZOS landlord was fixing stuff I'd been asking them to fix for a long time. They earned me back, and they have to continue to earn it or they don't get any money. So far, things are looking up now. They've shifted focus onto fixing the place up and away from throw away content like Craglorn.

So what I think is ESO is the most fun I've ever had in a bad game. It's a confluence of DAoC, IMO the best MMO ever made, and The Elder Scrolls, IMO the best RPG series of all time (best JRPG is still Chrono Trigger though). It's like those two hooked up, had a baby, and ESO is that baby...just baby has some effin' issues and needs better parenting. I love the game, but the devs aggravate me.

I'm 47

My first console was an Atari VCS 2600....

My first computer was a Sinclair ZX-81 ! I learned to code on that one, I loved it.

When my friends got into Commodore 64, I choose for something else : Atari 800XL. (Page 6 anyone ?)

After that I had an Atari ST. While I played a lot of games on the XL (Flip and Flop, Rescue on Fractalus, Mercenary escape from Targ, ...) it is 'Dungeon Master' on Atari ST that got me hooked on video games. Man, that game was amazing ! Lo Vi Bro

(it's the equivalent to a health potion)

I build my first Intel-PC from spare parts I got from a shop that threw its unsold stuff away...

I agree with the OP. I love ESO, even with it's flaws and occasional bug.

And as @Betahkiin stated : age is not a factor to judge someone when it comes to video games.

Funny enough I still have my TI-99. First computer I learned to program on. Surprisingly, someone perfectly recreated Hunt The Wumpus for Android. Friggin hilarious. I still have the Pong, Fairchild Channel F and Atari 2600 as well.

But ESO, with all of it's quirks, is fun. Questing, PVP'ing, stealing, murdering, crafting, farming, buying, selling... I enjoy every aspect of this game. Less bugs would be nice, but even with the bugs I play pretty much every day. Sometimes for 20 minutes sometimes for hours. I agree with the OP.. it's a blast.

Those of us who have rode the gaming wave from Pong to Space Invaders to Mattel handhelds, Atari, Nintendo, Namco, you name it all the way to the latest games, and have been playing all along.. well, I think we just have a different perspective on enjoying games. I honestly don't understand the way many people approach games and particularly their developers these days.

Held onto them just because.

(I could break out a couple of dirt-old 'laptops,' but I collected them, I never gamed on them.)

Beautiful thing about a game world like this, you can't tell age or any other 'attribute' about a person unless they tell you or you ask. The one has zero effect on the other!
