Advice for anyone getting the Manifest Error report and Repair prompt on the launcher

This often happens after a patch, and does not necessarily represent an actual error or need to repair the files. Most times all you need to do is close and re-open the launcher once or twice and the Play prompt will appear following which you can log in to the game.

I hope this advice will prevent too many people going through the rigmarole of checking and re-installing a whole load of files unnecessarily. Clearly there may still be occasions when the Repair prompt will need to be followed, but it's more often a fault with the launcher and closing and re-opening it will fix it. Usually the false reports and prompts go away a few days after patching.

Try closing out the launcher and re-opening. That often makes the error message go away for me.

Run it in administrator mode as well.

I take it you didn't read my post, just the title?

Why is this still a problem patch after patch? I haven't had it happen too many times before, but this patch (4/6/15) it is happening every time. Sometimes have to close and re-open several times before I get the "play" button.

It is usually not a chronic issue post patch, just these latest ones. Wonder if it is some glitch from the change the subscription model.

As in you need a subscription to the game to get a patch, which before meant paid. Now you can be paid or not paid, so they probably removed some level of account validation, and this got glitched in some way.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

You can just run the game executable directly bypassing the launcher. Launcher is only needed when there's a new patch.

Pretty much every time there is a patch, I have to do a delete and repair.

In the "Elder Scrolls Online" folder there is a "game" folder. I usually have to delete that one (its only 160 megs) and do a repair. Then I usually have to restart the launcher a couple of times, and the problem gets fixed until the next patch.

Since you only have to re download about 160 megs, it only takes about 10-15 min for the whole repair process depending on your download speed.
As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.

    I do this too.
Update time Is a guaranteed patch manifest error.
I will hit eso.exe instead if that error crops up.
