Pure evil

I feel like i need to get this off my chest. As someone who values game play and more specifically challenging thought provoking game play. I cant help but see things the way i do. If you are having fun in this game now im happy for you. I have been a part of the top guilds in this game from the very start. I have both world first AA and Hel Ra when we were all excited for the pve not just pvp. I was with the very first emperor when he got crowned. I spent months of real time in game and out of game helping anyone who asked. I created forum threads and videos showcasing my builds, and gave it out to anyone down to the enchants.

We never got anything. We have endured all the *** ups. The lag. The promises of content. The fixes. Nothing... A whole year of subscription.... The terrible forum policy of no naming and shaming bull *** for a mature game. The whole route that ZOS has taken if you only take a step back and look at it all. You can see that this game was never intended for MMO players. Yet it was for all the single player elder scroll fans to ease them into their first MMO. Any person who has ever pvped or raided at the highest level in other games can understand this. All you have to do is look at all the changes from the very beginning. To the api changes from the start to the more recent complete game mechanic changes. I'm fed up with all the excuses because even a great game has its problems. A good dev team knows their game and can fix things. ZOS trys to fix one issue, but spawns four more. The way ZOS has created and handled the game from the start has to be the biggest upset and shame in all MMO history for the grand potential this game had, and what they led us to believe. There is no high end pve raiding in this game, and the pvp has been the same since launch. We have been yelling that we need some new ***. All we have now is the same old laggy but now dumb downed cyrodiil more than a year in. They obviously have no idea what they are doing, and the pure evilness of it all... The game is free now. >:)

The question begs me why not include something as simple as dueling to the game? Even though we have guilds specifically for it? People obviously go through trouble just to duel. Every MMO has dueling why not this one? This isnt about dueling or duelers but to point out what i just said in the paragraph above. This never was an issue for me i didnt mind the no dueling i didnt need it. Still i have to ask how the decision was made to not include dueling? What was the reason?

I can tell you my suspicions the game was not going in the right direction started from the very first ZOS guild meetings way way way back in the start. They openly told us that they didnt want to go the route of a real MMO. Except they wanted to limit and hinder the amount of things and information open and available to you. How can you do this to an MMO game? How can you have endgame pve with leaderboards but not allow dps meters? All of the decisions have baffled me still even though i understand this game is for the elder scroll fan.. Not MMO gamers.

Elder Scrolls Online: Hang out

Edit

They should have made the map completely open to all three factions with safe zones/towns etc. They should have just went all out instead of this enclosed game we have. We could be playing the best MMO but whoever was planting ideas over there. Woah did they *** it up. Its like they half assed it because they wanted it to be simple for the non MMO player. But unless you were a veteran MMO player you really had no idea what was best because skill tool tips were not very helpful and there wasnt any info to go by. This is why we experienced what i never experienced before was the biggest out cry for nerfs i have ever seen for the most absurd things. On top of that everything was either a hack or exploit because no one knew what was going on.

Can you be more specific? You are upset about duelling but you can actually duel in Cyrodiil.... What else do you specifically have a problem with?

I agree that they cater way to much to casuals who are notoriously flaky when it comes to loyalty but what specifically do you see needs to be changed?

Trials were way to easy and ppl completed them right after they were released that was a pretty big issue.

I'm not upset about dueling... sigh

And trials only became easy once people figured out you can just aoe blast your way through..

    Thats all on them.

There is a lot of potential still, lets just hope they wake up before they lose long time loyal subs like you. WoW didn't become successful on its own, it reuqired the help of those first few subs.

Right now ZoS is alienating them.

So what do you think should be specifically changed?

I remember you violating my corpse back in wabbajack once!:D I THINK I may have got you back once or twice... bah. I can't remember. It was back when Light armor was better for tanking than heavy armor.

I've been here since the beginning also. I was here for hopesfire when AD turned it into a gate camping crap shoot, which I stayed in for a good 3 months. I was in wabbajack for its 3 month duration, which was fun. (I remember these times because that was back when I was actually good:D I only used a bow too... so it was interesting)

and I was in haderus for its competitive month(I was actually in one of the guilds responsible for making it competitive, so I want a thank you:) lol) before rage quitting due to all my bottled up rage over the past 6 months.

I am not going to sugar coat it, PvP is not in a good state right now. We PvPers have been left to die a painful death in the dessert. We have received no new content, blatant cheating has gone unopposed( I am not naming names here, so do not start that convo plz) horrendous, crippling lag, has gone unabated since.... how long ago was it? It was the lighting patch so... 1.2? 1.3 maybe?

Balance has been almost non-existent. It took ZOS 9 months to finally do away with the ridiculous OPness of light armor, only for it to be replaced with insane damage numbers, relentless damage shield stacking/spamming, and all the other issues of PvP. I do not expect perfection, but there are enough problems to the point it is frustrating to play.

I have effectively halved my PvP time recently. I've gone from a hardcore PvPer, who actually had some skill at it, to mainly a PvEr, who now can't play PvP worth a crap:D. I cannot stand PvP as it is nowadays. The only way I can have any fun is to play in black water blade. As soon as I step foot outside blackwater blade I enter horrendous lag and every other issue I have and have not listed. again, I don't expect perfection, but I do not expect issues to still remain that have been here since launch(lag)

PvP has been shelved in exchange for crap like craglorn and fancy new lights. the devs would rather work on facial animations than fix the crippling lag infesting PvP. there is no way the lag would still be here after almost 9 months if the devs would have given PvP the effort it deserves.

What gets me the most, is that ZOS advertised this game on its PvP. I remember the "intro vid" as I will call it; it was the alliances fighting over the imperial city. PVP. I bought this game FOR the PvP. I was excited to relive the nostalgia of TES IV, and I was excited for killing all the milk drinking fools who did not go EP, and for a month it was fun!! then people started using all the exploits and all the OP combos and the lag started and all that frustrating crap, and ZOS left it all be for 9 months. NINE MONTHS. Lets just say it has been less than exceptional.

I am still here though, thru the thick of it all, despite all its issues. I continue to hope ZOS fixes PvP and gives it the attention it deserves.

I want a *** refund, @ZOS_BrianWheeler @ZOS_GinaBruno. I have had enough of the blatant disregard for a whole aspect of your endgame while doing nothing to ease the woes of your customers. I am paying for your product, and it has/will not meet the most basic of expectations. I do hope you realize that you won't make any more money off this terrible product when the reviews/word of mouth shut down your console sales, but that's likely already been forseen and is an acceptable loss before you shut the game down anyway.

I think what we all would have liked with Champion release would have been ONE of TWO things:

    1. Fixes to make Cyrodiil a lag-free experience.
    2. New PVE content beyond Sanctum Ophidia.

I was shocked to see neither of these with this update, but I do know the ZoS team has other priorities that revolve around the business and the console release. Its unfortunate that we cant be given a game that has a team who isn't distracted by porting a game to Console just to please the accountants, but it is the harsh reality of the game industry. I am 100% certain that if the ZoS team had it's way, they wouldn't be worrying about console, and would be doing everything they can to make ESO better in it's current form.

To hit the numbers you need from a business standpoint, in today's world you have to do either console release or micro-transactions. It is the nature of the beast, imo.

Good lord when this game was going well it was the best PvP in years, I'd have been ecstatic to see either of the things I listed above + this champion patch. F the console peasants and let the damned devs concentrate on those of us who have been here for 2 years :)

I wish that were true but im not so sure... They had to have spent valuable time thinking they were coming up with a better idea with new game mechanics issued in 1.6.. When they could have spent that time fixing broken stuff. Same thing with the whole champion system. Why did they waste all that time. Everyone was enjoying the game immensely minus the bugs and little things that needed to be fixed just like any other game. When we were here everyday screaming bloody murder about lag. They are over there changing the game around and adding new stuff just to make the game worse then it already was. They should have focused their efforts on fixing lag and balancing out issues, that should have been priority. Now we still have lag, dumb downed game mechanics, bugs, same exploits, and cookie cutter builds... What are they really trying to do? keep it simple people.

    Krim,

I agree with every point you brought up. I'm looking forward to how the game will grow/develop (or not) shortly after console launch. Console players have a low tolerance for broken games. Repetitive? They can play that all day but when something is broken they raise hell. I've seen it first hand with DCUO who handles their bugs fairly well.

Also, thanks for saying it when others are afraid to due to excessive moderation.

"My immersion" is why we have what we have. The game devolved out of an MMO in beta because a vocal crowd of people just wanted another ES release instead of an MMO. They listened, despite the fact that when a new ElderScrolls is released it is highly likely that this crowd will leave ESO for it, just as they left skyrim for this.

Hang in there. It is possible that the release of console will force their hand because it does not allow addons. There was a poll asking if you would play the game without addons and 52% of people said they would not. I suspect the console users will be similar and the the forums will blow up with the MMO community asking for this game to enter the modern era of MMOs with a real UI. Once the UI goes native, minimilism will go out the window, and we can finally open the path to a modern MMO.

That crowd wanted a Skyrim with friends and pretty much got it.
Eventually I see even Cyrodil being just a pve land. Each faction will have their own Cyrodil with npc guards at keeps with monsters guarding flags..... No pvp.... At.. Alll....

I remember when questing was worth the time it took, and you could pvp for xp too. Nerf hammer came and made it all just a grind fest. When's the last time you ran a quest? I did a few I was missing and the end reward was less xp than killing five monsters. Wtf is that? 5k xp for...... Ah I'm done.... Questing, pvp, anything but grinding is Dead.

The modern MMO is an interesting term. I avoid the word, modern, because the medium itself is only 30 years old and the term, MMO, only goes back to '97 or '98 when it was very nearly called MegaPlayer.

And here I thought the leveling MMO was obsolete when EQ hit. But I am rarely wrong.....I am spectacularly wrong and often.

The MMO hit bottom last year. Three major releases, not a one of which performed as hoped. The character progression, gear progression, challenge progression online game is stuck in the ditch....two actually.

    1. ROI. With the resources spent here, three major, polished single player releases, a year apart could have come out on all three platforms to a more accepting, ready made and much larger audience without the need for a network layer of this scope and ongoing expense.

    2. Stand alone games have accepted, limited lifecycles. You play it, you're done, you eagerly await the next installment. If an MMO player plays for a year s/he is unhappy. They expect the journey to be ongoing over many years.

TL;DR This reflects exhaustion with a genre as much as it does an example of that genre. This audience has yet to accept procedurally created content. But that is what will define what will later be called the modern MMO>

This game is a fail simple as, light armor yes was op but zos can't balance for ***, always gotta go overboard in one direction making difficult to play any other style. Still loving the fact that dks have no damn decent execute or range but our ranged defense has been nerfed badly. Sorcs so easy to play its sad guess there the new dks.

This patch for me has forced classes into "roles" DK - tank, Sorc - high dps squishy, NB - ganker and Temp - heals, pretty poor for a game that's said you could play the way you want

All they had to do was buff things to put them in line with others not that hard, heavy is *** make it give high resists then high regen I dunno somethin to make it viable for use.

Anyway tl;dr eso is *** rip dk
EU Worst DK , Best DK Singapore and NA also known as 'Special Snowflake'

Jurra - V14 Dragonknight Rank 38 August Palatine
Jurra Hex - V14 Sorcerer Rank 25 Colonel [SEMI-RETIRED until Zos fix this BS sorc nonsense]

    LA DK Still OP :P

One of the Three Light Armor DK's

    #200StandardOfMightFFS
    #RevertAshCloud
    #RevertNewAnimations
    #RevertUltiGain

    #FixMoltenWhip

Grinding my way to August Palatine finally made it, still holding a torch for eso so now imma filthy casual

    Define casual ?
    Not -hardcore I suppose ?
Show me the stats that say ESO fans [probably among the most loyal] are hardcore and not casual.

I get hardcore players want well....hard fulfilling content. No problem. Fair dos.
I relish a challenge....adds to the game intensity
But why target all non-MMO harcore players as casuals and as the problem ?

You seem to think lack of time = lazy and not leeetz enough

    Someday........

I have nothing against it but I'm curious cody is this your first MMO?

that depends, if I tell you do I get an insult?

if so then may sithis curse you to the void.

lol. no, its not. I wont say what my first is though, I do not feel like dealing with trash talk right now.

He's mad they've catered the development of the game to ... not be an mmo. And he's right, cause the people they hired originally made a pretty nice mmo for release but they've been bastardizing it every day since to try to apease the fanbase to the detriment of playability, progression, and challenge. It's just a muddied pile of patches now.
