Playing with questmarkers off, anyone?

This is not a discussion about what's right and what's wrong, in this regard. Who out there plays with the questmarkers/indicators off?
I am returning to ESO and want to play it differently than I did last year. I want to play it peacefully, thoroughly, taking my time with the lore and exploration, emphasis on immersion. Besides, I've no desire grinding the VR-content anyway :cold_sweat: but that is besides the point!

Is there anyone else playing without the questmarkers and/or playing this way? What're your thoughts and what other things do you do or use to make it more immersive (addons for example, or rules you set up for yourself).

Thanks!

I do not play without quest markers, but I do try to play without most addons on ONE character. Just today I stumbled across a thread with add-ons that actually help the world become more immersive. I just think I'd be COMPLETELY lost without quest markers haha.

I'd bet people do play without them, as a few add-ons have the option to turn them off. You may want to check out this thread

Ahaha. Sorry. Shows how attentive I can be on a good day.

    Awesome thread!

I really think you should try it. I'm not willing to right now, but I'm thinking when I start my 4th toon, I want to do a "Let's Play" series, and be brave and go as immersive as possible. Which would include no quest markers. Really, if it's too hard.. just turn them back on ;)

    Haha no problem :)
Yes you should try it! Especially if you played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games, like Morrowind.
I will turn the markers on while grouped though, I guess, unless they play in similar fashion as me.

I think maybe I had my best time with the game in the ESO beta (just before it ended) where I just took the world in and didn't feel rushed to follow the quest markers or the compass. When the game launched I had a bunch of guildmates I felt I wanted to keep up with and quickly felt that the game was on "rails", which it is, but at least there are some tools to encourage a different aproach.

To increase my immersion overall I turn off all the hud/ui I can live without, no healthbars, no group members marked, no followers marked, & I take the target glow on people & interact-ables down to less than 20%
Have you SEEN some of those youtube videos where the whole screen is covered with trackers and add-on blurbs?
    bleck!

& I wish I could turn quest markers off the compass, but leave them on in-world!
...then I'd find things more naturally at least rather than, "a someone or something wants your attention over there"

I don't have a cluttered screen, just the frames from FTC (health bars on mobs) and the MiniMap mod.

But I have toggled off the UI when going out and about.

What I really wish we could toggle are the Keen Eye skills. Sure, assign the skill points, but be able to turn the effects off when I am not farming.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
