Download take forever, then update WTH

I bought a copy from best buy and loaded the Disc's np then it started a download that took 28 hrs. After it restarted it started a Update, no choice just did a update to the Tamriel Edition. I go to start it tonight through Steam and it's updating again, I'm beyond pissed. I would to play someday please. The explorers Pack will not install, if it did I'm without knowing. Please help!

Any physical copy you may have bought at bestbuy might have been one from the initial launch so there would have been several major updates that will need to be downloaded. This is a very common occurance with mmos since they are constantly updating the game and a physical is stuck in whatever state the game was in at the time of production. The explorers pack I think is part of the cd key you use to register the account

As said by Vexian, the discs you got are likely from pre-launch, so over a year ago. all updates since then should be downloaded/updated. I downloaded the game from scratch and it took 4-5 hours. So anything longer is likely an issue at your end. I would recommend reading the help files concerning opening ports and adding the game and loader to the firewall. Often these things are slowing downloads a lot.

This is not an install, but an unlock. The content is in all copy's of the game. e.g. the scuttler pet is visable for all players (ragrdless if they own the explorers pack). Only players with the explorer pack are capable of having the pet follow them around though.
