✭✭✭✭✭I'm at about 3.2 million right now. Once you get a few hundred thousand you can start scouring guild kiosks and buying up anything priced lower than you can sell it for (and make a profit). Some items are better to sell passively in guild stores. Others are best sold in zone or guild chat.
Get the Master Merchant addon to help track sales and prices. The more trade guilds you're in, the more accurate it will be. Try to anticipate trends. Great gold is easy to come by when a new update hits if you know what sort of changes are coming that can affect certain items.1 -

I can tell you one thing though. I'm gonna have an extra $14.99 a month in real life money as soon as I am able to cancel my account. This broken game isn't getting another dime from me.
Now all of a sudden I'm not able to log into my account to cancel my subscription. Just another broken issue with this company.

Eekshnerf✭✭✭I've had I think like 1.2mil total but I always spend it all as soon as I get like 200k. For one, there's not much use for gold. Two, it doesn't make sense in my head that my character would be a millionaire. Three, I'm a minimalist inventory-wise in almost every game I play. In ESO I only ever have 4 slots used (lockpicks, soul gems, food, pots) and the rest is open unless im doing something, in which case I immediately sell it after or throw it in my bank where I can't see it. Its always more fun for me, especially in elder scrolls games (favorite series) to have to go earn my gold before I have enough to buy that potion of cure disease, enough to stay in the inn at night, whatever. I also can't stand sorting through hundreds of things in my inventory because how realistic is it to carry 60 weapons and 40 pieces of armor? Its not.1 -

Most I ever had at once "in hand" was about 28k when 1.6 converted provisioning. Then I bought a motif book for a friend.Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.

Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.

✭✭Just hit 2 million for the first time this week. Might have got there sooner, but spent a lot for Dwemer motifs I didn't find, and every nirnhoned item for research.
Master Merchant helps a lot. Also finding high value items to sell. And a constant flow of items to sell, even at low prices. It all adds up. Aside from aforementioned crafting items, biggest expenses are repairs, horses, and a few epic jewelry pieces. Everything else I do myself.
