What's Your Favorite Race to Play?

I love playing Argonians. Especially since every other playable race in Tamriel is just some form of elf or human. Boooooooooring.

Sadly I switched to AD for a guild, and don't have the any race/any faction perk, so I'm stuck playing a Khajiit......a distant second choice. :(

    Khajiit for two reasons:

    1. Lots of customisation possibility's, and looking awesome in general.

    2. Great racial passives.
This one is just a humble Khajiit...

    Altmer
While for roleplaying purposes I enjoy playing Altmers from the very beginning of Elder Scroll series in the 90s, I also do appreciate how extremely versatile Dunmer race is - they are great Magicka casters with appropriate bonuses, they can be decent Stamina builds and also have the best predisposition of becoming Vampires.

If you can get it sometime, It's really nice, had the any race/any faction from pre-order and it is very convenient not to be dragged down to three races per faction (unless you have imperial unlocked), I'm AD and started with a bosmer, just because they are my favorite race, but now I'm loving my Orc DK and Argonian NB! Worth it!

    Dunmer
I started out with a Breton character in Morrowind. He became a king among mer and seemed perfectly enjoyable yet something was slightly off, missing somehow ...

... and then I started another play through (with mods this time) as a Dunmer character. The missing thing suddenly arrived with a vengence. It was a sense of place. My Breton character never felt like he was where he belonged, even when he was confirmed as the Nerevarine, Archmage of the Mages, Archmagister of House Telvanni etc..

As a Dunmer, in Vvardenfell, it felt like home should have felt for my character. It has ever since, even in Oblivion or Skyrim (although he had to look for pockets of Dunmeri presence in those two games). In ESO I had hoped that my Dunmer could return home. Until...

Not yet! No triumphant return to Vvardenfell for you!

    Khajiit
Khajiit, definitely. For any Elder Scrolls game although I do like to switch things up sometimes. Everything about them is interesting to me, their culture, their accent, their sense of humour. Even their homeland sounds very interesting to see, I hope we'll be able to travel to more of it in the future. Khenaten Flu there may be, it wouldn't be the first plagued area the Vestige has walked through untainted, plus that could be a nice thing to explore in the storyline of those areas in Elsweyr.

RP going on my favorite would be my Pact Kajiit. Found and raised by a Nord family, she thinks, and drinks, like a true Daughter of Skyrim.

    I love that idea!

I've always played Khajit but that's because I'm pretty boring with RPGs and just love being sneaky (Even outside ES games)

Just so happens that the idea of a "Cat-Burglar" is too much of a good thing to pass up.
Plus the Khajit culture and broken imperial language is just really endearing.
And who can say that having a bad-*** lion as a leader isn't a good thing?

(Does anyone else recall Arena and how all the races basically looked human anyway? :P)

I haven't paid much attention to it until ESO but I've noticed a pattern in the three alliances that each has their own "Down-trodden" race. And all of them are the non-humans (Khajit, Argonian, Orc)...deliberate social commentary or coincidence?

    Dunmer
Dunmer all the way. I played dunmer even back in Daggerfall, continued playing them through Morrowind and Oblivion into Skyrim, and my main characters in ESO are no different, still darkish elvish.

I just always had a soft spot for dark elves ever since D&D I suppose... moreso when they got a "hero" with the very first "Icewind Dale" novels, and then the spotlight with the "Menzoberranzan" trilogy...

So when I stumbled over Daggerfall, I went dunmer from that. Back then it was more a matter of appereance... for me the dunmer came into their own in Morrowind, when I got to play a delightful story through their homelands and history, discover the noble houses and ashlander tribes, how they came to be in the TES lore and the dark secrets the tribunal was hiding... I liked dark elves, but with all that neat lore behind them, Dunmer became my all time TES favorites.

I've always liked dark elves. I remember reading about them in my AD&D days and was intrigued. Then when EQ came out and I was able to play one, I was hooked. I've played dark elves in every game that has allowed them since.

On the flip side, I can't stand Kajit (I know, I'm among the minority here). My first main was a NB and i absolutely refused to roll him as Kajit despite the obvious advantages. One of my biggest pet peeves is when on my guilds mumble some of our members talk in that Kajit speak and I cringe every time I hear it. First few weeks after release was the worst. EVERYONE was doing it. I stopped using mumble for a while as a result. Fortunately, it has died down to a tolerable level.

    Imperial
In ESO I like the idea of my Imperial Legion deserter. Disgusted by the use of undead and Daedric troops to support the Imperial Legions he left, then hunted down and eventually sacrificed by Mannimarco he was cast into Coldharbour without a soul. Vengeance filled that void but when the opportunity came he cut his way through Molag Bal's daedra, fought his way across Tamriel, assassinated Mannimarco and defied Molag Bal in his own realm.

I've always had a soft spot for the lizards. An Argonians was my first ES character ever, and since then they have just been my favorite.

I really like the way they look. I find their culture, history and lore some of the most interesting out of all of the ES races.

I liked playing stealthy assassin types so I've been a bosmer in other ES games. Too bed it doesn't really help in ESO.
