Since my original thread was locked without explanation I would like to here simply request that phasing be added to the /ignore function. This is, apparently, a thing in some other games. If you use /ignore not only do you no longer see that player's chat, you no longer see that player's CHARACTER. Obviously this would have to be turned off in Cyrodil but it would finally completely eradicate the ongoing problem of player harassment. Please consider this solution ZoS as player harassment by other players is now growing in scope. Thank you.

If you revisit the thread, some comments were removed.

Think they may intend to reopen it once it is fully sweeped.

    Wait and see.

(Support your idea though; seeing as they should also have the power to merge this thread into your other one if it is properly unlocked).

Yeah, that was weird....no explanation either.

I thought it was a productive exchange and was just getting interesting too.

Thanks for getting it rolling, MornaBaine :)

Next time you report someone work in that its going to interfere with the crown store and that should get them to hop on it.

OK here's an example of why this would be a good thing. The first day the dye stations were implemented hordes of players surrounded them and constantly spammed bright flashy spells so people could not see what the colors looked like or even actually reasonably use the dye stations. This literally went on for days. Yes, there are OFTEN times when seeing another person's character is extremely bothersome. Especially when they do things like follow you around spamming spells and childishly whacking at you with their weapon over and over. Happens all the time to people. So, we need some simple tools to stop it. With this requested functionality in place I could not even see these people and they could continue to do whatever they wanted to do while being totally unaware that I don't even see them and they are having no impact. They get to have their jollies and I don't have to know they exist. Win-win. ;)

Sadly i run across this a lot while RPing with my friends. AD has gotten so bad we swapped to EP, though they have their trolls the community on that side tends to chase the bad ones away.

it certainly would be good, for EVERYONE if they added the ability to not only make a character on your ignore list be invisible to you (outside of PvP remember, not totaly. they still have to show up when you enter a PvP area)
if the bots ever come back, you can report them (assuming they arent doing the warp speed quest delivery shuffle lol, or the underground phase mining ect) then ignore em (till they get erased from high orbit)

but its not just RPers that could make use of the instance tech that MornaBaine and the other thread sugested.
Guilds could hold meetings without being distracted by things they *personaly* dont want to be distracted by.
hold after RAID parties and not see all the soon to be corpses from the justice system (lol)
trade guilds could all get together to talk serious business with no stealing visible.
if you wanted to make a 'how to' vid for you tube, you could place yourself in a single instance and show players exactly how to do things without the constant background spam of other players on your screen (tho you might have to remark about this so the new players watching dont think the areas are *that* empty all the time)

with a bit of imagination and the ability to phase your group into a chunk not being used, you can do all sorts of things, not just RP.
(and i have to say...'your death, brought to you by..roleplayers' a fantastic image ^^ thank you for that one)

And was just trying to respond to your point about casual diagnosis by non professionals of serious conditions.

Perhaps the most remarkable feature of online games is that they introduce you to yourself - it's the endgame beyond the endgame. People alone cannot know themselves. It is only by the reaction of people to us that we get a more complete sense of who we are.

Online games are one of precious few venues where people are judged based solely on their conduct. If that conduct is antisocial we don't need a clinical diagnosis here. Nor do we deserve one. But online games must have tools to fortify cultural standards.

The problem, in my view, with many online games is the utter absence of consequence for any action. You need to need other people for a true multiplayer game to function fully.

This is why you don't hear whining in Eve Online when folks are defeated. In chat it's just "gf" (good fight) and that's that. The reason is that you need other people in Eve. Are these players better people? No, of course not. But there are consequences for violating community standards, and high among those is NO WHINING. ;)

Spent a good chunk of my life fighting for disability rights but I've never favored blind bus drivers. Antisocial behavior, like honor among the Ash'abah, need not be named. But it does need to be discouraged.

I just had the best idea ever...

    What if:

300 Crowns - Summon Game Master

That's a good idea. I was more thinking when reporting them say that if you can't RP then there's no reason to buy costumes, but selling useless stuff you should have already had in game seems to be big with ZOS so your idea could work.

Harrassement isnt a good thing but I would also like to be albe to put people on a list similar to ignore but it would be an ''unskilled'' list. This way there will be less harrassement because my teamate will stop ''harrassing'' the terrible healing we got because of the group finder.

Since this is a megaserver... Isn't it possible to have RP's flag as such and be taken as a group to a low pop instance for social events? Seems like the tech to do this already exists. And it would solve many of the issues people are sharing.

Kinda sad though. Not a RP'er myself, but had a blast watching about 30 WW's get together for a clan meeting. Hell, one of them even bit my lowbie alt. I lol'd, thanked him/her and eventually did the quest.

They tried this early beta using a quiz. It failed hard cause you would just get the trolls flagging themselves as rp thus making it pointless

True. I had this one player spin his horse around me while I was waiting for a group at a dungeon. I would move about 20 feet, he would follow. I finally ported somewhere.

However that is the only time I have been really griefed in the game. Other than the spell spamming in towns, but that is general purpose griefing. Most of that has gone away with the JS, so that stuff does not bother me anymore.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

i think thats one reason MornaBaine and co are sugesting the total ignore option (outside of PvP remember) because that way, the people that take agressive exception to roleplayers can ether place *them* on ignore the same way the RPers ignore them, and the rest of us can still accidentaly wander into an area where something interestings going on...

it kinda livens up the world if you are wandering about and stumble into an area where folks are RPing. i tend to skirt around those areas quietly myself and not get involved (unless an anchor drops on their heads or those little scouting party type versions pops, in which case i try to help get rid of them)
