what those symbols mean?

I noticed some players ingame have symbols next to their names, on the right side there is yellow, red, etcs stripes or bar and left side look like silver/grey shield. Can someone tell me what those symbols mean? It wasn't in help section ingame and also is it possible to target yourself to see what you have also.

✭✭The stripes/stars/symbols are PvP rank.

AaronMB✭✭✭What you're seeing is the Alliance Rank and Faction symbol(s). The faction symbol will obviously stay the same, while alliance rank changes as a player increases level through PVP activity in Cyrodiil. You can see your rank through your chacter's stats screen.
