Teeeeechnically, you didn't pay for the upgrades to get the visual changes, you paid for them to get the upgrades themselves.

That aside, this riding bug is pretty annoying when you're trying to get somewhere in a hurry (to a Dolmen in the distance, away from a pack of mobs too strong for you to take, etc). Luckily I tend to only ride my mount once in a while, as I get too much enjoyment running around and pilfering every mat node I see, but it still is an irritating issue.

It almost seems that is a "Ghost" of an NPC or a landscape item that use-to-be there or has not been rendered yet.

Try running into an NPC that you can see. it has the same effect.

This would be a "Shot in the dark" here....

Everything with mounts is becoming a downward spiral. :confounded:

I would also love if the mounts went back to how they were before and didn't start at their max speed. I hate pressing A to move left and instead of my mount slowly turning like in the past it shoots off forwards.

I know there are a few who like this max speed at start change but I personally can't stand their sudden jolt forwards. *grumbles*

The worst thing about the change for me isn't the bolting off at max speed right away but the change that your mount doesn't stop when you let go of the button so I constantly overshoot my target unless I force dismount by hitting an ability or crouching. The second worst is the stop-start-stop-start..

I had noticed this and I think I mentioned it in my first /bug report. It was like the game thought that the mob was still there and was colliding with it. However, I have had it happen when there is nothing around, or at least nothing that i can see. I considered the idea that it was latency and that the black cat had crossed my path a few seconds earlier. I also considered that the mob might be in a different dimension (channel). The problem is that mobs are everywhere, running around like they own the place.

Oddly enough, today I am not seeing the problem as frequently. Only twice in about a half hour.

Hey folks, we'd like to look into this but we need more details. Where are you when you're seeing this happen? Is anyone able to provide a short video of the issue?

Riding (with shift pressed) in Cyrodiil from one keep to another ist basically a non-stop stop'n'go. It's annoying as hell. Just try it yourself.

Makes no difference for me, if I use a horse or the senche.

Odd that all the people in all my 500 person guilds have been complaining about this too. Ill check my modem and swap my keyboard out...brb.

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

Can't be the reason because releasing the sprint key doesn't make your mount stop. Also, I can run by foot without interruptions.

Having all 3 maxed on mounts will show up no armor. The invisible walls are from the visuals of grass and and rocks being animated higher than the ground that we are running on. The layers need to be smoothed.

I just figured my horse has very delicate feet and she is afraid of grass. So, she runs like the wind until she encounters some and then she just stops. If someone could mow the grass in Cyrodil it might help her.

Given that it happens more when on wifi (a LOT more), a networking issue seems most likely.
This would also explain why ZOS haven't been able to reproduce it and are asking questions: they just aren't getting the latency or packetloss or whatever it is.

Not sure how to test this, though - maybe a ping -t while riding, and see if high pingtimes are associated with stops...
Not that I can tell, but that doesn't mean anything. My ping times to Google are 55-65ms, to ZOS 65-85ms, but occasionally double or triple that. The larger times (packetloss) suggest I am getting collisions or packetloss on my wifi, but they do not synch to the horse stopping. That doesn't prove whether the stop-starting is due to the movement packets getting delayed for a second, but it's a possibility.

It's not happening much for me at the moment though, so that's not saying much. I have to ride about for five minutes to get one stop.

If you click the gear icon in the launcher, click "About", then click "Game consultant", you can run some tests. Down the bottom of the report.txt, it describes the packetloss. I'm suspecting that when we're experiencing this issue, we are also experiencing packetloss.

Or the issue is latency/packetloss related, in which case they won't be able to reproduce it their end and will rely on our reproduction for them. Hence their questions.

I experience the stop-and-go-issue not just in Cyrodiil, it occures randomly in all other PvE outdoor zones where you are able to use your horse. It does not matter which horse (I have them all, all former stable purchasable horses and all crown shop horses).

It occures while you press your sprint key and it does not matter whether you drained all your horse's stamina or not. I use a Logitech G19 keyboard.

I play this game on a

    Asus Z97 mounted by a i7-4790K + 2 x Geforce Titan SLI System + 16 GB RAM

visualized in highest possible detail (ultra+) on an 1440p 28'' Asus display (oh, and yes, it looks just gorgeous)

in smooth 60 fps and a latency of around 50 to 70 ms (100 Mbit/s fibre internet connection here, 50 Mbit/s upload, I would never use a WiFi/WLAN connection for my main internet connection (PC->router->fibre modem), therefore I use always a CAT5e or even a CAT6 LAN cable).

I use addons though (Minimap, Skyshards, Lorebooks, Wykkyd Gaming Suite etc.), but the issue occurs even without any addons loaded.

The video someone posted in a comment above here in this thread, shows the issue pretty well.

Unless you consider 77 ms a high ping response. That's not the cause. Please look at the detail on my screenshots above. Each one has my FPS and ping response when it happened. I'm not using WiFi and I'm practically sitting next to the NA megaserver in terms of hops. There's no concernable packet loss.

My theory is that it's server-side, but it wouldn't be the first or last time I was wrong either.

I get the same thing and it's really annoying.

I too personally believe that it is network related as it happens far less at 07:00 than 19:00.

My pet theory is that the stopping is just hiding a rubber band effect as that would be even more annoying!
