Whats with the new food recipes. Not only they are pure silly but also you removed some lore-friendly ingredients with some modern lemming foodie stuff

Examples:
- Acai Berries
- YERBA MATE (seriously?)
- Mint Mudcrab Mojito (where is my Daiquiri then, how about Orc Rusty Nail, or Moonsugar Cuba Libre, dont stop there, where is my Breton Bloody Mary and Outlaw Screwdriver) not to mention Gin Fizz (without soda ofc. cause soda is not lore friendly)
- Ginkgo
- Guarana
- ALE BEER IS NOT MADE FROM WHEAT
- I dont remember bananas in TES lore
- Ginseng
- Good luck making any kind of beer with just yeast, its called moonshine, its not a beer and it still needs sugar and potatoes.
- I dont know how did you make a Port wine with mead and yeast but you got to tell me your secret.
- and many more

Seriously, you dont care about the lore don't you Zenimax?

I'm waiting for my pink pony mounts then.

Caring about the lore and using it to advertise a product are two different things.
Just because it has the name and maybe seems a bit like TES doesn't make it so :/
People make games. The right people make epic games. The wrong people make... everything else.

You know that every elder scrolls game changes the lore to suit the game. This is not lore breaking since this has nothing to do with the lore. With the addition of other Providences like Valenwood is pretty easy to have banansa in the game since they are tropical and the past elder scrolls games were not in a tropical setting. Now what is lore breaking is if they make dwaven race a playable race since they have never made a return back into existence at this time.

But the most ardent fans will once again shift the goalposts if this happens and rationalise the decision, it happens every time. Boiling a frog. How many small, incremental erosions does it take before you reach ... pink ponies?

    1) Game mechanics.

    2) Yerba mate is the name of a species of plant. Look it up.

    3) Just because bananas weren't around in previous games doesn't make it lore breaking. We're exploring areas we haven't been to since Arena. Deal with it.

Seriously. Chill. I enjoy the lore as much as anyone, but none of this is a big deal.

What people seem to not understand is the lore of TES was created by Bethesda, thus they can add, remove or change anything as they see fit and it does not break the lore. Remember we do not know much about what happened or when on in this era. All of the TES games are after the events of ESO.

Just so you know, everything added into ESO is adding to the lore, not breaking it.

ESO in the Elder Scrolls timeline is the earliest ES game, so everything that is in it is the new lore to the Elder scrolls franchise.

The only way ESO would be lore breaking is if it was set between the late 2nd-early 4th era and It went against what other games did, or If there was an already written upon lore that it goes against.

    Example:
The left handed elves had an empire that was on the continent Yokuda( it was 4 times the size of the septim empire). Eventually the whole continent would be submerged destroying the empire and the left handed elves population (or so we know, there could be some still alive).

If later in ESO quests, that the continent has not been submerged and still exists, that would be breaking lore. But ESO isn't breaking lore, it is creating it.

I personally believe people throw the word 'lore-breaking' around now to try and get attention.

Again someone talking about how this or that is lore breaking. I don't remember there ever being a book in any of the games that detailed the food of Tamriel's inhabitants beyond sweetrolls. Also, how are plants and fruits lore breaking, if you mind explaining? Something people need to realize is that the lore in this series is very very flexible, something which is intended so that the lore can adapt to mechanics and limitations of each individual game. Take some time to learn the lore beyond "this is what exists in past games" and you'll realize that ESO only adds to the lore, it does not destroy or damages it in any way.

    ESO is creating Lore.

If by any chance we get to the timeframe of Oblivion and Skyrim, it could be totally different.
    We might change the future.

If anything the only Lore that will matter in 10 years, it will be ESO Lore. Not only because it's gonna be the only TES game with more than 1 Province, but simply because it will overwrite the whole Lore we used to know.

We're already playing a TES game that has by far the richest Lore. How many are willing to bet that TES6 will be even smaller than Skyrim (which is already smaller than Oblivion etc etc.) Bethesda is just not bothering to make a big world, especially not now that ESO launched. Hell ESO even in it's current state is about 15x bigger than Skyrim. I got out of it 10x more hours as well. Bethesda will continue to release TES games, it's very profitable for them, however expect heavy advertising for ESO in the single-player games. Hell probably even in the loading screens.

You are very misinformed! ESO is set at a stage earlier than many single player ESO games, therefore anything added now is only added to the lore (and possibly going extinct or phased out when it comes the time during the single player ESO games).

    Unbelievable!

ROFLMAO. You folks who go on about "Lore" do understand that things get changed or lost as decades pass, right? Records get lost/damaged/destroyed. People lie, in order to up their rep and screw up others. Things change.

#edit: Example: Mournhold will be flat in the future, with the ground at the level of Almalexia's Temple.

Each game that has been written by Bethesda has added new lore content. Have people been screaming about this since Arena? If so how can a game be made if it is constrained by the first release?

Also, throughout history periods of time have been lost and vast amounts of knowledge have been forgotten. Consider the Dark Ages for example, known mostly because the amount of historical knowledge from that period is lost. I.e. Dark.

I personally consider games in this series as a chance to learn new things about a world and setting, rather than restrict my beliefs on information obtained previously.

I remember booting up Oblivion for the first time and finding an apple and being "What is this bull****? Apples in a TES game?" You need to realize that just because they are adding to the lore does not mean they are breaking it. Keeping a narrow view like that will mean that the games will never be able to progress or evolve and we would all be stuck with Arena style games which had no food items.

And what about the pricing. With an ingredient costing 150g from a grocer, and most foods requiring a minimum of 2 even for most basic foods, that means even a practiced cook would spend 300g on an average, basic meal for a family of 4. That's almost 1K per day just to EAT. Compared to prices of other common things this is way WAY out of line. A simple weapon is about 30g. A high value moderately rare collectible is worth 250g. So an average family spends more on a single meal than on their treasured keepsakes.

Had the lore been written by those who created it then maybe you would have a point; but it wasn't so you haven't, IMO.
