Suddenly having hundreds of Maormer running around all of Tamriel is NOT in lore, however.

They're mostly known for raiding the Summerset Isles, not roaming in hundreds all over Tamriel. They belong as an NPC race, nothing more.

I have to agree with AngryNord. The only interaction that the Maormer have with Tamriel is invading it. You can't have one of them becoming the champion of DC/AD/EP; sure, there may be dissenters, but not that many.
Second Dominion is Second Era (2E 830), and the supposed Maormer alliance is only referenced in Imperial propaganda. There's no mention of them in Fourth Era Dominion info.

eso take place in the second era, we don't have much info on the 2nd era. as of fourth era they are allied with the second dominion. this does not disrupt any of the lore, most of the setting for 2nd era are still void.. as all elder scroll game take place in third era.. well... except skyrim.
We have them as NPCs exclusively as an enemy faction. Playing as one would only work if they implemented an entire new storyline in which you play as Maormer invading Tamriel. Which, history shows, always fails.p.s. also we already have them as npc.. so if we see them around in the world why can't we play as one??

10 racial choices is enough, especially since they aren't completely restricted to alliance.
I should also note, if the only support for an idea that conflicts with the other games comes from "but it's the second era! " then it's cheesy, pain and simple.
