Change Interface Language / Spoken Language

Hello,

Is there a way to change to spoken language and the interface language?

In other words I want to change the interface language to english and the spoken dialog language to german.
I'm not a native English speaker.

    I don't think there's a way to do that, but maybe there's an add-on?

As far as I know, the game language is universally applied across all systems. I don't think there's a good way for ZO to keep language packs separate for separate elements.

Doubtful you could mix the languages. For one reason, you can have subtitles in the game if you choose NPC in the Chat Window Options. So, what would be there? German or English? I know what you want, but the game probably can't do it that way.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

 Thanks for the answer. I hope they will add a feature to change the language ingame atleast. It's pretty annoying to restart the whole game just for changing the language.

Well, you're literally reloading every audio and text file in the game, so it makes sense that they would need to boot up the client again.

Yeah I know but let's take far cry 3/4 as an example. You can change the language/dialog language ingame without restarting the whole game. Far Cry is also pretty complex like most TES games - many dialog etc.

Anyway, it would be great if they add a seperat file for the ingame interface language because I have hard times to google stuff in german. There are not many people doing Build's on german - or a extensive gamepedia in german.

    Try this:

Set your language to German in the launcher and wait for the game to patch if necessary. Once in game, type /script SetCVar("language.2","en")

You should hit a loading screen and when it reloads all of the text, UI elements, subtitles, etc. will now be in English, but the game audio should still be German.

I've only tested this with English audio and French text, but in theory it should work for any language combination.

My game crashes after the loading screen. :persevere:

You do need to redo this every time you launch the game, unfortunately... as the launcher overwrites the CVar language.2 when you click the play button. Occasionally, I've seen my client crash after running the script, but in my experience it has been fairly infrequent.

Just a thought... have you ever had the launcher set to English since the last patch? I'm wondering if maybe the client is missing some data for the English settings and that is causing it to crash when you set it. I'd try setting the launcher to English, letting it patch then launching the game. After that, set it back on German, load the game and try running the script again to see what happens.

Launch game through eso.exe instead of launcher. Problem solved until next patch.

Or... what I did is wrote a small addon to automatically change the CVar value when my UI first loads.
