Thanks for the videos @Seraphyel. That's looks amazing! The fact that ESO doesn't have that makes me face palm.... hard.

    You're welcome.

To be honest, I hate underwater combat in GW2 because it's difficult and quite hard to master because you know, three dimensions.

But their approach and implementation of it is just epic. If you ever played it, you are mesmerized by it because it simply is one of the most beautiful things ever brought into an MMORPG.

And with all the unique underwater skills even casts make sense.

I'd be happy if my pet could just SWIM with me, instead of popping out of existence every time I swim across water. I mean how hard would it be to just allow pets to swim?

The Twilight could just flow on the water... but poof it's gone because it hates water?

    We'll Sea About That

I'm also a fan of the way GW2 handles underwater combat and would love to see something like that implemented in ESO someday, but prior to that, I would rather see more content and bug fixes on land.

Maybe as DLC down the road?

It seems that MMOs are moving away from this mechanic, which is unfortunate to me. Why is this? EQ was able to implement this 15 years ago. What is the challenge to making this happen?

Just look at Guild Wars 2 and their BEAUTIFUL underwater content. That's just breathtaking. In ESO you can't even dive.

It's funny, I see so many posts that say why this or that feature can't be implemented in ESO, using a variant of "programming is hard" or simply "impossible to do". Yet almost invariably the feature being discussed has been implemented quite successfully in other MMOs. I'd suggest in the future that before people go ahead and say something cant be done, they should check out is it has already been done, and done well, in other MMOs.

I can't say I've spent any meaningful amount of time underwater in the previous titles, it was largely monotonous and unless it appeared in dungeon it was the same sea weed + sporadic rocks ad nauseam with an incredibly finite amount of interesting things to see. Any suggestions for specific underwater locations worth visiting? The lack of any that come to my mind makes me really disinclined to support the reworking of the movement system to allow for Z-axis exploration underwater.

I'm not generally an MMO player. There are 3 things about ESO that enticed me to play and keep me playing.
    1. First person game play
    2. Non intrusive UP
    3. Tamriel's Lore

The GW2 UI can be alerted with mods and I JUST found out GW2 has added a first person mode. So really just the fact that I'm an elder scrolls fan.

    That's it.

What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

    Would be so cool!

Make Agonians the only race with underwater breathing/swim speed right off the bat but also have a underwater skill line that would boost things like ability to hold breath or spell to breath underwater, increase swim speed (this would all stack with a Argonian making them far better underwater as it should be).

A lot could be done here and I know we'd love it. Plus it would be one more step in the right direction for this game as a whole.

I don't think it would add anything to the game itself. If they wanted to add an underwater area to a non-combat, alliance-neutral social space, that could be cool. Maybe a whole line of non-combat activities like inviting a friend to dinner, going to a theatre, feeding fish to domesticated Narwhals...

But as far as fighting Narwhals on the open ocean as Sheogorath suggested... probably not for a while. WoW didn't get its own substantial underwater combat zone until Cataclysm.

I am always dismayed when games treat bodies of water as just being 2 dimensional.

Especially a game like ESO that actively encourages exploration.
