i think that due to the many updates and fixes that happen almost on weekly bases with different lenghts , we need to get sms when it starts and when system is up to play.
as an ESO plus subscriber, i find it very difficult to track ,since i'm not always connected to pc , and i noticed that till now u notify on 2 places : here on the site,
and via facebook page (which always tells when u start,but always late to notify it's over).
patch 2.0.2 yesterday for example, took more than 4 hrs, basically a day lost cause i couldnt play, and had to check on facebook every hour for update.
i really think it's time for sms service on this.

✭✭I think having a smartphone app would be much better than SMS alerts. I work for a text message marketing company and trust me when I say ZOS does not want to do SMS alerts for this. It would be incredibly expensive for them and there are very strict rules they have to follow.:trollin:1 -

All you really need to do is start the launcher and there is a little light, red means not up, green your're go to go
If its not ready and you u need to still load the patch, keep the launcher up so when you are ready to play, so is your game.1 -

no problem, i dont mind how they call it, also an app will be great ,as long as i know when it's ok to play,or system down,
u can see on facebbok page whenever they do maintenance, ppl are asking if up or not all the time, cause nobody knows..

sounds ok to me, it doesnt have to be specifically sms, it can be whatsup or any method to notify users.
i find it strange that no one asked for this till now. u know, if it was 1once a month ,than ok, but it's like every 2 weeks now patch time ,and each time diffferent patch size and downtime ,it's about time to get this organized.

✭✭I would like an app that does more than just notifies about server status. Like allow for chatting while offline and maybe other notifications. I know it's a pipe dream though.:trollin:0 -
mra4nii✭✭they are not strictly accurate, but more acurate that facebook ones. twitter status is updated ~10-15min later after the maintenance is really finished.

honestly , i think ESO plus members should get it. i dont pay sub for the costumes or the funny animals on sale,
i prefer quality of service.and since patches have become a second nature for the game,we need that.0 -

Just save the site as a favorite in your browser. BOOM check every hour or two. Also? if you don't have time to do that because of work and life, who cares when it's up or down? you would have been busy anyway... If your priority is the game, the notification methods they have work perfectly fine. If it's not a priority its even less of an issue so I'm lost how it becomes mandatory to know the instant the game is available through social media sources or sms when their site offers the same info and is Just as accessible as social media. *confused*
Also for the record since someone was confused of being .what? 6..? I'm in my mid thirties and use multiple channels for media, entertainment and news etc.

Here's what I see happening with ESO SMS....
System goes down 8:00am.....maintenance done by 12:00pm......system back up by 2:00pm....first SMS sent at 6:00pm saying the system is down, delayed being sent because of SMS lag......SMS sent 8:00am the next morning saying the games back online.....Edited by Robbmrp on March 24, 2015 8:03PMNA Server - Kildair1 -

xTG✭✭The SMS system was not made to be constraint in time.
You can receive a SMS some hours after the send.
Webservice will be better. You can use an App on your phone to get the notification in "real" time (~5sec to 15minutes depend on the refresh used and if you want purge your battery or not) from a twitter account or a facebook one.
You will never have better.

I've been in since beta and have not stopped paying or playing since launch TYVM. I play daily also....but you know I also work, socialize, do things outside of playing video games so maybe my concept is skewed.
