Most cash shops have the option to enter an account name to gift items and nobody seems up in arms over it. I suppose there are ways it could be taken advantage of on a small scale, but most likely the pros outweigh the cons and it would be a good money-maker for ZOS. In fact, I think that introducing a gift shop with special small goods (tokens of affection, gag gifts for friends, and other cosmetic fun) at a low cost would actually do rather well and I'd love to see something like that!
I am convincing my wife to play ESO and as such I want to be able to send her a gift from the item shop.
Will this ever become a thing? Option to gift.
Perhaps link accounts so that the linked account can use the same crowns so that I could gift her items?
I think this has been overlooked.

ZOS please take note. Please consider allowing us to give Crown store gifts.

Then you buy the item with your own crowns and put in the @userID of the recipient and they get a notice in their mail with either the item or being told it's in their collections tab. This is pretty much the only way I ever foresee myself buying more crowns than I am allotted due to my sub. It is a potential goldmine for ZOS. I can't believe they haven't realized this.
Gifting crown shop items will inevitably allow people to sell/trade crowns for in game items, which is something zos don't want to allow.

I understand this argument but there is a relatively easy fix for this.
Perhaps we could only gift those we have had on our friends list for a certain amount of time.
Another idea to add would be something World of Warcraft has done. Recruit a friend. those we could recruit would automatically be able to receive gifts.
I see the validity of a card. Does not work for everything that is ideal.
I have friends Ive never met in person. I have friends in game that I have never written a letter too or even know what they look like. Should I have to buy them cards?
People will always find a way to take advantage of others. Should it always ruin things for everyone else? There are ways to track people who are selling game store items.

There is an easy fix. Just like now, if you buy something from the store, open the mail and take the attachment. It, binds to that toon/account. So should any gift. If the person you gift an item to opens the mail, and takes the attachment, it binds..solved..:)

Solves what exactly? How does that stop me from selling/gifting you a Guar mount and you paying/gifting me back, I dunno, say 200k gold?
