I've spent a ton on SWTOR but none of it on stuff to make me a better gamer, it was all clothes and vehicles for my 8 characters. Did I need to do it, no. Did I need to buy the horse in ESO's store...no. Do you need to buy the XP potions....no.
Not to mention XP potions are there to help f2p players get some of the XP they are losing to subbed players. But no one says you have to spend any money on it. If people don't spend the money, ZOS will put stuff in the store that people will spend money on, better armors, other mounts, customization.
And for the person who said none of us should stand by the decisions ZOS makes....1) it's their game...2) they are a company that's trying to make money off a game. That's all there is to it. You either stay and play or go find another game.
XP boosts (or in this case referred to as "Potions") are more for everyone. It's something implemented into a mmo so players can get more xp than they usually will so they can level faster or such but without making it seem like they are directly paying to get to a higher levelSevalaricgirl wrote: »Not to mention XP potions are there to help f2p players get some of the XP they are losing to subbed players.
All I gotta say is that armor and mount better not have good statsSevalaricgirl wrote: »ZOS will put stuff in the store that people will spend money on, better armors, other mounts, customization.
Funny. I haven't played or touched the game since beta.Sevalaricgirl wrote: »You either stay and play or go find another game.
ArcheAge is P2W at its finest. Sure you can get everything by in game means, but the RNG to get the high tier gear is less than 1% per piece(and we're talking hundreds of thousands to millions of gold easy).

That is exactly how I'd feel if I had to open Cash Shop & chug a potion every 2 hours.

no one in ESO says you have to use exp pots.
People who have an abundance of time to play these MMOS, but cant afford 14/mos to a set amount of in game currency, or have an extra 10.00 to buy in game currency can still level a they are doing so right now.
For people like me who work too much, have kids, and families, I welcome the emans to bridge the gap that powergamers have the niche in.
If people cant afford buy whatever is in the cash shop, this game is still lets you play free and powergame if you have the time.
In Aion we had potions boosters.. XP potion boost, and AP potion boost, but with reasonable CD 24hrs.. and that was okey, u get higher exp/AP gain for 2 hrs and need to wait 22 hrs to pot again. Acording to post, where som1 posted a screenshot of ESO exp potion, ZOS plans only 2hr CD and potion stays for 2hrs duration.. thats mean u will be able to drink potion evry 2 hrs to boost ur exp by 50%.. It's insane.. You can get perma 50% boost to exp, if u can effort for it.. CD should be 10 hrs at least!!
I think we need a new term for xp p2w... should be P2GSQ.... Pay to get stuff quicker.
P2W and P2GSQ is not the same
GW2 has XP potions, they were pretty useless. Even the potions for their AvA; no one really used them and it definitely didn't make them anyone more powerful.
It all depends on the implementation. The Devil is in the detail.

Just because you have a busy life doesn't mean you should have a shortcut in a game. What people are just not grasping here is that it starts with a potion that increases XP and soon enough there becomes this arms race as to who can drop the most amount of cash to become as powerful as possible. You can dress these potions up as "convenience" items for busy people, but it doesn't stop the non busy people from also using them. That means you really don't get to catch up at all because the guy who doesn't have kids is also using the pots. Do you seriously not get this?kokoandshinb14a_ESO wrote: »That is exactly how I'd feel if I had to open Cash Shop & chug a potion every 2 hours.

That's one of my favorite vids of all time and he's a funny streamer. I like when he says "you lose cause you no pay". ArcheAge is P2W at its finest. I had a blast in ArcheAge until the whales took over. Watching the bad PvPers(people that were stomped before they were geared) be able to take on 20+ by themselves turned the game into a crapfest.
nimander99 wrote: »Great upload! Games like Archeage and Neverwinter were the dev say "you can earn everything in game" then make the most epic items and enchants un-lockable at .001% is a total joke.
What people NEED to understand is that these games were developed exactly as they were intended! They created horridly p2w games to appeal ONLY to the whales and then call them f2p to bring in thousands of suckers for their whales to kill.
ESO was never developed for the above situation. It was made for the fans of the series.
