Download Resume/ Update problem

Idriar

Let me describe my problem:

ESO has around 30-31 GB, I have at best a download speed of 240 kb/s, and it is going to take 36 - 37 hours of downloading. Is there any possibility I can download the game in portions? Can I turn of my PC during the download (close the client) and have the client resume the download from the point it has reached already?

Because I'm not happy about having my PC running over one and a half days straight.

If that helps, I have ESO installed already. It's a very old version, though. Practically lacking 2 years of updates. When I have the client in the same folder as this old version of the game, the update always fails, and when I then hit the repair button, the client also tries to download 30-31 GB, as if all the files were completely corrupt, so it doesn't much matter wether I repair the old data or download everything once again.

The client is the newest client, I had the BETA client until last week, so that cannot be the problem.

The resuming of the download is the main question here.

Hoping for an answer.

If you haven't updated the game since beta, then it doesn't matter which version of the client you have, you need to do a fresh install with the new client. The good news for you is that the download will pause when you close the launcher and restart where you left off when you open it again. It will probably say 0%, but it won't download anything you already downloaded.

I also went through a similar gauntlet trying to get my launcher to download the latest update; after going through the troubleshooting list on the ESO support page to no avail I tried switching my internet connection from a hard either net connection, to a wireless one. IT WORKED! I suspect my Ethernet cable is bad. This could be the problem for you. I hope this helps! - Andwyn

Thing is, my PC is already wireless, cable can't be the problem. It's just a very slow internet in my region, anything downloads with a rate of 240 - 480 (when I'm in luck, and I'm glad when the ESO launcher shows a stable 240) kb/s there is no possible way to speed it up.

My issue here is, whether I can stop the client, turn off my PC, turn it back on, and resume the Download from, let's say, the 20 % it had reached, when I turned it off. Or whether I have to download the whole thing in one piece.

Thanks for taking your time and replying, anyway!

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know.

Just so, after 30 hours of downloading to this point and approximately 8 remaining (equaling 7000+ MB, I will just let it run through the night. Didn't fry my hardware, so I guess another eight hours won't kill my PC either.

When it downloads 80 GIGS of data which costs you 15+ dollars a piece, then you will know what a pain in the nuts these people are with their brokeass client.
