HARDWARE HELP CPU GPU CONSOLE...

disiplinmana
Hi guys as you can see on the title im having a hardtime deciding between pc or ps4 console.andi have serious doubts about how consoles would handle huge cyrodil fights...and if it cant i have to keep going with my pc, but its a relatively weak hardware with amd fx 6100 cpu(supposed to be a bulldozer.....) and hd 7790 oc edition and 8gb ram 1333mhz cl9 and a 500gb 7200rpm hardrive. im planning on building a new pc i would prefer intel but i wonder if the performance diffrence will be worth the $$$$$ and what would you recommend me if i should upgrade or completely build a new pc or ps4(optimisation).i would like to play the game at the highest settings with smooth framerates at 4k.....i know ps4 is 1080p

I have a GTX 760 and i5 4670k with 16GB 1866 RAM and Cyroldil is always smooth even in huge fights where lag becomes a massive problem.

Even with no skills firing, no sound effects and 150 people all trying to take the same flag the game is still smooth, just ridiculously lagged out.

Now if they fixed the lag and all the skills would fire and my machine would actually have to render all that stuff it may be a different story, but as it stands fps are excellent atm.

If you want to play at 4K, then you will definitely need a new PC. I would highly suggest going to http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc and browsing the systems people are putting together to game at 4K. This game is easier to power than most, but that high of resolution will still be demanding.

    What this guy said.

Anyway, PC version will most likely run a lot more smoother than console versions. I'd suggest you build yourself a beast PC that can run more games than just ESO.

Your RAM is alright, but you definitely need a new CPU and GPU. I have GTX 780 and i7-4770k and my game runs 60 fps on max settings anywhere I go, with 1080p resolution.

I can't speak about 4K resolution, since I don't know the hardware require for it, but you would most likely need quite a beast machine to run the game that good.

There's still a little performance tweaks to be done to the game too, so expect the frameraters become more stable in future.

But seriously, go check that reddit link the guy above linked. It's a great source of information if you wish to build yourself a good PC.

PC all the way. If graphics and performance are a priority at all, then a PC is a must.

As for 4k, going with 2 slightly cheaper cards and running SLI or Crossfire could be a good option. Basically it splits the workload nicely.

80~110 fps on AMD FX 8350.. avoid consoles they suck for MMO's and in crowded places it would have a hard time making those ppl show up on screen due to lame draw distance mechanics, also playing with a controller is tedious unless you skilled at it
    I'm outta here

For 4k resolution you are going to most likely need SLI/Crossfire, also 4k monitors last I checked are not cheap. I would recommend Intel for the CPU (an i5 'K' chip which will be unlocked for overclocking) and don't skimp on the PSU!

you want to play at 4k? that flatout excludes consoles.

Console will run just fine at with good picture on this game. But you will ALWAYs be able to do better on PC.

I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

    Pros of the PC are

    better graphics
    higher FPS
    option to use ADD-ONs
    possibility bigger pvp caps

    Cons
Going to cost you a more then the XBOX and PS4 combined.

Really just comes down to personal preferences... Some people prefer the simplicity of the console other want the performance of a PC gaming rig.

As a guy who has built gaming rigs for almost two decades now, keep it "simple" unless you know exactly what you are doing and what you want. For 99% of all PC gamers, a

i5 4690K (or something like the i5 4670) with a gtx 970, 8gb (or 16) of gaming ram (I like Gskill), a 250gb SSD (maybe a 1tb sata HD for storage), 750w name brand power supply (maybe more if you want to have two high end video cards) a decent computer case with a bottom mount for the power supply with overall good air flow, and atleast one if not two 1080 + capable gaming monitors.

You can make a decent gaming computer using an oldish I5 and a Nvidia 560ti (what i use) whack in about 8 gig RAM and that will cost you about £300 tops.

Works fine for ESO with no lag.

Also to the OP, your PC is pretty good for playing ESO on. The only thing i would say is get a bigger HDD.

I would wager a xbox one or PS4 would be a better purchase than a computer build around "older gen" tech. Not criticizing your rig, just saying why spend the money that way when you could buy a PS4 / xbox one for nearly the same with what very well may be better performance and graphics... At the very least he would be able to continue to play modern games with high setting much longer with a current gen console VS an "older" computer build...

The older i5s may be good in general for gaming, but MMOs especially are CPU intensive and would recommend no less then a i5 4670 or you will bottleneck yourself.

I ran a 770 in a AMD 965BE playing ESO with draw distance turned down to 70 and various graphic options on med. Stuck the 770 in my i5 4690k and all setting (including draw distance) maxed with FPS usually over 60. In this game, the CPU matters.

A 400-500$ self build PC will run this game better then any console. Go for 600-8)00$ that is the sweet spot for 1080p gaming. For 4k the cheapest you can go is about 1200$ with dual gtx970 and without a monitor you can probably go cheeper with a 295 amd . just remember if anybody is telling you PC gaming is expensive he does not know what he is talking about. Not even talking about price/performance wise where a console will run a game usually in 900p-1080p , 30fps and mediumish settings to build a PC who can outmatch that will be stupid cheap (think celeron + 750i) I build a new PC not long ago with 4k gaming in mind I spend about 2300$ and have about 200games in my steam collection with an average price of at least 20$ cheaper than on console so even my high priced PC is already outvalued a console. Let us say say you spend 600$ on a PC you would need to buy about 10 games (max) till you have price matched the console (very conservative) you can play PC games with a controller connect it to your TV and have a easy to navigate interface (steam) even with controller
