Will bounties from one faction areas carry over to another?

I play Ebonheart Pact and would not like to be known as a criminal in that faction and still want people to speak to me in that faction.

If I got to a DC area and rack up a bounty will I only be seen as a criminal there, and will I only have a bounty when in that factions areas?

Hmm, this is a good question. From a realism point of view, it would make sense for bounties to be on a per-alliance basis, as the guards in the Daggerfall Covenant wouldn't likely have enough contact with the guards in the Ebonheart Pact to even know about the crimes committed there, let alone have the desire to enforce the laws of the other alliance. Heck, since they're at war they may even approve of crimes committed in a different alliance.

Exactly! And in Skyrim's bounties were hold based. It would be stupid for bounties in ESO to not be faction based.

So, yeah, murdered a fighter's guild member in Vulkel Guard... and took the bounty with me to Shornhelm.

From what I've seen, bounty stays with you till it decays or you pay it off no matter what. This is as a VR14 AD, and I've been to all three factions with a bounty. It's like Herpes, it will be with you always lol

Sadly yes.. Went on a murder rampage in Wayrest, and when I rode back to Windhelm the guards decided I was an outlaw and murdered me.

Pretty stupid if you ask me. All bounties should be either region or faction wide. Currently its just a plain bounty. You shouldn't be killed by your own people for killing an enemy soldier!

Thanks for the confirmation! Hopefully this is changed before live release. I really would like to do the achievements in the justice tab but not if it affects my reputation in my faction :(

It doesn't seem to affect your reputation in anyway.

Also, the fence limits are global for a character. Not just per fence. Which, makes sense, since the entire system needs to govern gold seeping into the economy, not actually "protecting the fence from law enforcement scrutiny."

It seems a balance in the game as a whole vs what would make sense in the real world is happening in both of these cases, and concessions are being made to being an MMO vs what you'd expect.

For me it doesn't make sense that even being at war factions seem to have a kind of ultra fast Interpol network. I wish it was more like in Skyrim, city or hold related instead of so international. For me it doesn't make sense. If you are also a vamp you will always get a bounty while feeding even there's no one looking. That doesn't make sense to me either.

It's Stendarr, God of Justice. Stendarr sees all, knows all your misdeeds. And then the aedric jerk rats you out to every guard who ever prayed to him...:smirk:

On a more serious note, with wayshrines and teleports from map being easily available, making bounties localized would remove their sting, since then people could just rack it up in one location, and then leisurely stroll into another and thus escape all consequence while being able to quest and trade normally. At least now the only refugees are Cyrodil and Coldharbour, places known to be lawless anyhow...

If you kill another human being in Germany, which would make you a murderer... are you no longer a murderer in Japan?

It usually depends on whether you are at war or not. I recall people in my country at one time got given medals for murdering Japanese and German people. Glad that isn't the case today, tbh. It is quite nice to see justice is blind to the petty wars of men. If you kill an Aldmeri soldier in Tamriel, and you are fighting for Daggerfall, your DC brethren will execute you. Makes perfect sense to me... Oh wait. No it doesn't.

    Hehe. True. :)
I was trying to say that basically if you are a crimminal of that magnitude it is unlikely you suddenly stop being one merely because you crossed a border. Extradition for capitol crimes exists in many nations so I sort of look at it that way. If you have been killing people all over the world, chances are you are wanted by several different countries and law enforcement organizations world over. Tamriel is admittedly a little goofy system with this, but in the grand scheme of things there has to be some way for the game to track you if you are on a massive killing spree so it kind of makes sense - especially as there are no enforcer players atm.

Well, if bounties were localized, having a bounty would have to suddenly lock all wayshrine travel for you. No more teleport to friend either. Or TP from your map. Because that was the only other way to make bounties meaningful...

And everything considered, I think I prefer the bounties follow you, but you can use all the fast travel options anyhow.
