Finding Motifs

I know motifs [used to] be found everywhere. Since the addition of the justice system, can they still be found in dressers/wardrobes/end tables? I don't want to have to steal from them and get caught if so. I used to check everything last year for them and did a great job finding them.

I still find them in Delves and in "Hostile Areas"/ no criminal activity, but I do find that the rate of finds is way down.

I got a Barbaric book in a Dwemer delve the other day so there are non theft options out there. Just most of the best places they were found are now owned.

yep, they are there, but rate is down wrt 1.5. This is why they jumped in price - 500g ea or so nowadays. Purple are up too.

Yes, you can still find motifs in desks, dressers, etc. I found Argonians and Orcs that way. When you loot them, they will show up as stolen, just like other looted items. You can launder them to make them legal, or you can just read them on the spot if you want them for yourself.

You can find the Motifs, as stolen items. And you can launder them for 9 to 13 gold if you need to.

However the loot tables are now larger so the motifs do show up less often. The supply is way down, I used to see dozens in the Guild Stores, now I am lucky if I see 6 Blue ones and some Dwemers.

Hint, there is a Guild Trader Kiosk in Daggerfall that has a decent supply at decent prices, the last time I checked.

Slightly off topic: what are decent prices for blue motifs in NA these days? I've got a pile I've been hanging on to with plans to sell them after the TU launch. I want to get a decent amount for them (I was saving them because it seemed like such a waste to try to list them for maybe 150 gold each at most), but I also don't want to rip people off...

I haven't noticed the drop rate being much smaller when I've been on "ownership reassignment" runs. I think the amount on guild stores is down due to the risk of thieving and fewer people doing it (at least successfully). I have dozens sitting on my storage account until the right time comes.....

I've found a stolen Daedric, two stolen blue, and an Ancient Elf since 1.6, just doing normal pilfering on my adventures, not farming. Same containers as usual, except of course, many are owned. The motifs are out there, and as always, RNG plays a big part in finding them.

I found 2 Primal Motifs out in the wilds this week. I was kinda surprised about that.

I've found a good handful over the last week. I like the drop rate now, gives far more enjoyability when getting a Motif now, and hopefully prices will go back to a decent rate. I've found mine just like any other time, In nightstands in shops, to urns in dungeons. Many possibilities!

I found a Barbaric the day aftef 1.6 launch in the Auridion Bank, just checking out of habit, I wasnt in stealth and the guard was in the room. I tried to run but you know how that ended lol. I need barabaric and didnt even have a chance to read it so the guard took it. Laughed it off and continued to play. Since then Ive picked up two redguards and two nords just by playing and stealing a little smarter.
