Blood - The perfect battle aesthetic! (And discussion on ratings/content of the game)

So, quick mini throw back, and I am sure some of you who played Skyrim and modded it might know what I am talking about. So, in Skyrim, there is a mod called "Crimson Tide - Blood" and all this mod does is makes it so that when you kill an enemy, blood spurts out of them and it creates pools of blood on the ground where the enemy died, and it adds a great sense of accomplishment, and an epic feeling, when you see the blood on the ground near your freshly killed opponent.

Now, what does the above have to do with ESO? Well, personally, I would love to see something like this added to ESO, where after you kill someone, whether it be player or NPC, a pool of blood extends out from their slain corpse, and lasts until the body despawns. Its nothing game changingly massive, or something that changes the way any gameplay mechanics work, but it just adds a simple, battle-realism effect, and adds to the feeling of "You just won an epic and bloody battle".

Just imagine it, in Cyrodiil, you kill a bunch of people from the opposing faction inside of your keep walls, for a short time (until they respawn), that area of the keep will be a blood soaked battlefield, and when you look at it you will think "Yea, an epic battle just took place here".

Now, granted, for those who get horrified at the sight of blood, or don't want it potentially taxing their performance in any way, I am sure that, if implemented, ZOS could make it so that it can be disabled under the "Gameplay" section of the settings.

Bit of blood? Sure, why not.

For a PEGI 18 game this game really is a bit short of blood... and they even patched out most of the cleavage... So why is rated PEGI 18?!

Agreed, they should expand upon the Pegi 18/ESRB M ratings instead of pushing them aside and trying to lessen the game down to a lower rating.

Pegi 18 and the game feels like Pegi 13. Questwise and otherwise. With this rating you can pretty much put all the Elder Scrolls goodies into the game from drug use to racism to gore. Don't see why they don't. Guess it's because the people on the team have absolutely no connection to previous Elder Srolls games.

Because Daggerfall angered the ESRB gods with the naked chicks in the inn and the nakie nymphs that slap you to death - literally. The ESRB ratings for all Bethesda Games have not been or fair or accurate ever since then.

ZOS set out to make the game T rated, but were not willing to change the game to make it T rated when the ESRB made the call that it was M rated.

ZOS' creative vision is an ESO without blood, gore, gratuitous sex, or any of the hallmarks of M rated (PEGI 18) games like the Grand Theft Auto series. To them ESO is a T rated game.

I respect them for obeying principles without being bound by the expectations such a principle invokes. Simply because one can, doesn't mean one should.

The game would totally be more appealing to the target demo since nothing sells better than Sex and Violence. I applaud ZOS for their restraint.

If they put that stuff in ESO, that would be making full use of the opportunity that Pegi 18/ESRB M provides.

I would say ESRB and Pegi gave Bethesda a gift, they removed the "social boundaries" that would otherwise limit possibility and thus limit the game.

Meh a little blood here and there would be nice in situations where blades, daggers, axes and mauls are used etc. I also think there could be more mature themes around a lot of quest lines or gear etc. It's not like it's NEEDED but it would help with some immersion aspects and realism. I mean there is no lack of racism or drunkenness but that's about where it ends currently.

There is blood in the game, more than any MMO I have ever played. I think the reason we don't see more of it is do to technical limitations. Cyrodiil doesn't need another effect to cause more lag.

You should see blood splash on your enemy hits now. It's not a pool, but it's there.

If they want to make it a T rating game they will have customers of that audience.
Unlucky for them, that audience comes as fast it's gone again.
I've stuck with the series for a long time now, and seeing it turn into a kindergarten simply blows.

Out of 900 quests maybe 10 were appealing and i loved them and maybe 100 others i cared enough about to listen to the dialogue and get to know the story. But for the most part, especially now in v2-v3 areas it's just not fun anymore.
I only do Cadwells quests by now as i can't see the "i'll help" button anymore.
I am done fixing everyones problems in this game.
Since when has Elder Scrolls become so whiney and apologetic?
Where is the badassery that made the games awesome?
Why am I not raiding places and taking slaves, summoning daedra into villages and watch them massacre everyone, or create a plague that wipes places out?
All I do is run around and help people i would not care about if they were set on fire.
    Which unfortunately they are not.

    Anyways.

If the Dark Brotherhood and Daedric Realm DLC that was promised doesn't steer the game in a WHOLE different direction i don't see what i am leveling my char for.

Well, if you think Bethesda is going to makes use of that rating, you're mistaken. My comment wasn't necessarily aimed at the ESRB, rather than Bethesda. Bethesda IS wanting to get the "T" rating, the target dem being that audience and their consoles. My previous comment was in relation to how the ESRB will not give them that rating, even though you can buy "T" rated games that have more violence and gore than TESO does (especially language).

I agree with you here that it does open the door for more adult content. My argument is that Bethesda and ZoS will never walk through that door - ever.
