Polls are not necessarily meant to spark a huge discussion. But without comments a poll will get bumped down very, very quickly.

✭✭✭✭✭As everyone else said that would just lead to the first page being flooded with unpopular polls. And potentially people tacking an unnecessary poll onto a topic just to ensure it stays on the front page.

Most polls are one person trying to make it look like his thinly disguised opinion is prevalent across most users. I don't want to come to the forums and wade through pages and pages of "Is DK overpowered" or "Do you want AH" before I can get to something else.
If a poll doesn't capture the attention of enough people that it slips off the first few pages - perhaps the content of that poll doesn't appeal to very many people.
