Why am I forced to farm cloth mats?

As my primary and only focus is leather, why am I forced to collect cloth mats for writs I shouldn't be getting?
I should have a choice between cloth writs and leather writs. None of the other crafts have to deal with this mess so why should clothier?

EDIT:

Okay let me try this again.
I farm leather for crafting leather items. I have ZERO use for cloth mats.
Why don't I get a choice to do writs that use leather?
Why am I forced to gather cloth mats to do clothier writs? This is a complete and utter waste of my time.
As a Blacksmith or Woodworker you are not forced to collect what you don't want or need, for writs that don't pertain to the items you craft.

You arent. Avail most likely thru guild kiosks and guild stores. By kiling mobs and GETTING XP you get the leathers. Cloth guys dont get the XP when they pick flowers.

Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

I might add title =/= post. If you are complaining about having to find mats for cloth for crafting writs, thats a different topic. Still avail in guild stores and kiosks tho. I dont mind that at all, with 2500 void cloth bundles and 2500 leathers in the bank.

Picking flowers can also be profitable...

Sell it in the guild store to people focusing on leather but also doing writs ;)

I would rather pick flows than waste time killing mobs for mats. You have more control over what you get with the flowers than you do the mobs.

It's obvious you have no idea what Clothier means. A "Clothier" is not restricted to using only cloth items =\

And it is obvious that you haven't grasped the fact that since Clothier refers to a profession that uses both cloth and leather you will always have the capacity to get writs for both.

Given how insanely easy it is to collect mats for the cloth side of clothier I really am surprised to see this complaint. Now, if you were cloth only and complaining about having to fight extra mobs just to get the leather to fulfill writs then I might think you had a point on the basis of requiring a different mechanic (combat) as opposed to the harvesting that is used in the other equipment based professions.

...but complaining that you have to do a little light harvesting or dropping buy a guild store to get the mats to fulfill a writ? Not so much.

I can kinda' relate to this - I use medium and heavy armor.

I don't mind doing cloth writs, BUT it would be nice if there were some sort of clothier survey for leather. I find myself constantly overflowing with cloth, and short of leather.

The clothier writs can require you to make cloth or leather items... yet the clothier survey always leads you to a large deposit of cloth only. I realize this is tough b/c cloth comes from plants, whereas leather comes from mobs. But it would be nice if there were a way to have a leather-making writs send you to a leather survey that provided an overgrown herd of welwas or alligators, so that you could regain some of the leather you had to use to complete the writ.
