Will you keep your subscription?

I have been a subscriber since the start of the game. Played beta and the early access as well. I love this game. However, I am struggling to find reasons to keep my ESO Plus membership. Here is how I break it down.

First off, lets say they have 3 major DLC releases every year at $30 each and then they have 3 smaller ones at $10 each in a year. Thats $120 I would spend on DLC in a year. If I sub to the game, I am dropping $180 in that same year. When I look at the benefits though, am I really getting enough out of what I am paying for? Especially since if I drop my sub, I lose all DLC that was released and I would have to buy it again.

The crowns are a benefit, and I would earn 18,000 crowns in a year span. However, I don't see that much in the crown store that I would spend than many crowns on. Sure, some costumes, pets, and mounts look nice, but eventually it would get to a point where I am just buying a bunch of stuff I don't need.

Finally, I look at the 10% buffs to experience, crafting, gold, and so on. I think this is a nice benefit, but is it worth the extra money for it?

In the end, the way I look at it is one of two ways.....

1. Sub for a year, get my 18,000 crowns and all DLC for $180.
2. Cancel my sub, purchase all DLC at around $120 and then spend money on crowns as I need them.

I guess it depends on how much DLC comes out and what the price point is for is.

So, my question is, are you going to cancel your sub? What are your thoughts?

I will keep my subscription as long as they release DLC and new stuff in the crown store. I don't like micro payments for individual crown payments because I end up paying way too much. Having a controlled monthly amount to depend on really helps me keep my subscription. Plus I like supporting the game and the 10% exp gain bonus isn't too bad either :)

I honestly don't see any reason to at the moment.

When DLC comes out of course, but right now you only get a meager 10% buff to xp, gold, and research, which isn't really worth paying for.

Supporting the devs is important to me. That is a factor I didn't mention in my original post. At the same time though, if they are only going to be releasing 2-3 major updates a year that are only $60-$90 in total, I could just buy those DLC packs and then spend the other $90 on 9000 crowns.

Will there be enough in the crown store to make it worthwhile to keep a sub?
Will there be more benefits added?

I just think that the subscription benefits are going to be lacking a bit and they won't have many subs. It could be running out of useful or fun things to purchase on the crown store, or the benefits of subbing won't be enough to keep the subs.

I'll be staying subbed because I enjoy my playtime (as limited as it is) and (even many days away) enjoy feeling a part of the world even when I'm not there as well supporting the people responsible for making and taking care of the world I enjoy playing in.

My wife will be unsubbing and supplementing through the crown store.

Depends how the game progresses, right now there is really no reason to stay subbed. The changes with the game I do love have me thinking of unsubbing and possibly walking away. May head on over and check out FFXIV. Or go and play Skyrim.

Hard to say I want to keep supporting this game but after what they put us through that have been loyal to them from start has just left a bad taste to me.

There is nothing in the store that I have an interest in. And most I could care less about having. That said, its not worth the subscription to wait about a year for the first paid dlc. Also the fact with a sub you are only renting the dlc and you lose it if you drop the sub. So your better off dropping the sub and pay for the dlc's.

Im just waiting for the Senche Mounts to release to be sure I get mine and then I am dropping the sub.

I'm keeping my sub. As long as I keep playing, it makes no sense for me buying DLC and not playing the game.
I mean, if I take a break from the game, what's the sense of owning several DLC? They would be sitting there useless.
With subscription, I have all DLC available (for playing and trying them) and crowns as a plus while I play.

I think not all DLC will cater all tastes in the future. A pvp dlc for example has nothing to do with me, but I could try it and decide. If I drop off my sub I can't try DLC, I have to buy them yes or yes, and If I buy a DLC and I don't like it, it's wasted money : p So, keeping my sub atm.

My plan now is to do the following:

    -Unsubscribe.
-Sub for 1 month if I want Crowns.
-Sub for 1 month when DLC is released, to try it out.
    -Buy DLC as desired.

I'm done with the straight subscription though.

I really REALLY want to stay subbed but I feel like it would be to much like donating my money for my tastes. I'm not willing to pay for the sake of paying.

Short answer; probably not. If I decide to level an alt I might stay for the XP bonus but I am not sure I will do that. Have a bunch of crowns and nothing to spend them on that I want as of yet so might as well just sit on them unsubbed and use them if there is a DLC I'm interested in later.

I don't see why people keep posting about this. It is not difficult...if the money is that important to you (for whatever reason), then unsubscribe and buy DLCs as needed. If money is not an issue and/or you plan to use the crown store, then stay subbed.

Getting others to validate / invalidate your personal decision is a waste of time.

Subs dosen't make any sense any more. Because the sub money is rarely spent on making content for the players. Usually the money is spent making a new game. In this case, the sub money has been spent making the console version. Not end game content for the current subs.

With DLC they actually have to make the content or they don't get any money, and it has to be good, or it won't sell as well. With subs there's not that much effort put into making it good, since it's been paid for anyway.

The subscription is equivalent to 3 cups from a premium coffee store - I'm really not interested in ending the sub at this moment as I now like what I see.

I did cancel it for a month but that was to make a statement due to the hard work of getting to VR11 & VR14 respectively being translated to 30CP but I'm over that now and we ended up getting 70CP.

I fully appreciate everyone is not in the same financial comfort zone as me but I regard the subscription as negligible.

I am glad to hear the opinions here of people. As I said, I am still on the fence.

To those who are going to drop their sub...

What would Zenimax have to offer you to keep the sub now that the game is B2P? More bonuses for XP, gold, crafting, etc?

To those of you who are going to keep your sub...

Are you at all nervous or upset about losing the DLC you get while subbed when you drop your sub? Personally, I would think that Zenimax could give all current subs the DLC when it comes out if they are subbed longer than 3 months or pay for 3 months time.

Yeah already dropped my subscription, but that was my plan before F2P was announced so this actually works out well for me. As far as DLCs are concerned, all I really want is the spellcrafting one (based on what we've seen so far), and based on some of ESO live stuff I've seen, that might not actually be a paid DLC, and just a game enhancement (but I could totally be wrong).

I wasn't looking to validate or invalidate a personal decision. In fact, I would say that not many people are trying to invalidate a personal decision. Just because opinions differ doesn't mean that the choice was bad.

I was merely trying to gauge what the player base was going to do. My sub is still active but I am seriously on the fence about it. In the end, I don't know what I am going to do, but I am glad to hear from other members on this topic.

I didn't even buy the game until it was announced it would be buy-to-play. I can't play on a regular basis and rarely know in advance how much time I'll have, so the chances are I'd end up paying a sub and then never actually getting the benefits from it. (Except the crowns, but then I may as well buy them directly.)

Maybe at some point in the future when lots of DLC has been released it would be worth subbing for a month to try it all out and decide what I want to buy, but until that's the case I'll stick to one-off payments.

It's always hard to balance between making subscriptions worth buying, and making the game pay2win.

Let's look at the current bonuses:

More XP Bonuses...I feel that is too close to stepping over that line. 10% is more than enough.

Research time is reduced by 10%...that's nothing. Make research times twice as fast, and make it apply to training horses as well, and then you have something.

I believe the other current bonus is 10% more gold? So mobs that drop 30 gold now drop...33 gold. Not that great. Most gold doesn't even come from what mobs drop, it comes from selling the items they drop. It is an entirely useless thing to have. Maybe re-work this into increased chances of better loot.

10% crafting inspiration...that would be nice to have months ago, when everyone wasn't already maxxed out in their crafting skill. It's really not even hard to reach 50 in most skills, so I don't see the point.

[snipping out the part not relevant to me]
They would have to offer the new content DLC they told us they had been developing over the past year with our subscription money, that they withheld / delayed to focus resources into console and B2P / cash shop model development instead.

It's not about the $15/ month. That amount is barely a blip on the radar for me. I paid for what we have now and I'm going to continue to enjoy it. But I'm not in the habit of paying for additional things that aren't being delivered. I'll decide whether to resub when the additional content is delivered. The boosts being offered now aren't worth the money to me. If they're worth it to you, that's great and I'm happy for you.

Of course am in the minority because if I would of been in the majority this game would still be P2P. I noticed you just got the game so welcome and hope you enjoy the game it is beautiful and has a lot of great things in it. But the way we were treated and told false hoods early on, it is hard to want to keep paying every month to support them after what they have given us so far. Like I have stated, they threw us the loyal ones under the bus. So I may be walking away and not giving them another penny. After all I can play what is in the game now for as long as servers are up. I have to treat all future DLC's like they treated us, who cares about them.

Responding to the Op question, I'm not nervous about "loosing" DLC if I drop off my sub.
For me is like activating a switch.
Playing is equal to keep my sub and its advantages.
Not playing? I don't loose anything. All the content done and/or achievements would stay. The moment I decide I want to continue playing, I resub. For me, is that easy and simple.
