How to get gold mats or nirncrux from writs with my lowbie crafting alts?

So I have two crafting alts that are level 13. One is max blacksmithing and clothier, the other woodworking and enchanting. I have taken them to all their home zones, but obviously cannot progress to Craglorn. Am I still able to get gold mats or nirncrux from writs outside of Craglorn, or are those goodies only available from writs in that zone?

Gold Mats should be able to. Nirncrux no.

Aww damnit, that's what I was afraid of. I was planning on leveling of these alts up eventually, but definitely not both. Since crafting alts are such a staple for MMO gameplay, locking out valuable crafting material due to level feels like a big oversight ( @ZOS_GinaBruno ). Is the nirncrux drop rate affected by the crafting level at all? So, can I just get my main certified in clothing/smithing/woodworking, craft the items on my alts, and then turn them in on my main in Craglorn?

You can harvest ore/cloth/wood nodes on any toon and get crux at same rate as a max crafter. They say the rate is higher on nodes from surveys but I have only gotten 1 from about 50 surveys (after they fixed the Blacksmithing Survey always giving at about 4).

Ah gotcha. Over the weeks I've roamed and grinded in Craglorn prior to 1.6, I found 2 nirncrux. My question about crafting level was relating to writs themselves though: does crafting level matter for the chance to get good items from writ rewards (ie can my main, who is barely certified, turn in writs for the same chance at the nirncrux as someone who has that craft maxed out)?

The toon that takes the writ must finish it. But you can save the surveys into bank and fetch them with another toon. The chance of nirncrux is in the node and not in the picker. So yes, you can have a dumb fighter to farm mats and collect surveys and a wimpy crafter doing just writs. Still the crafter should really be at least VR1 to be able to return top level writs into Belkarth.
