Taz's Suggestions for Future Content

I've decided to put together a list of things I've noticed need improvement, or are missing in my opinion.

Full disclosure: I'm not a big number cruncher so I can't give an accurate view on that; all I can say on the matter is that I favor nightblades and sorcs, bows/dual-wield/resto staff, and medium armor. The races I play are khajiit, dunmer, and imperial; I don't pick vampires, but I love werewolves. I'm a slow leveler, I'm a role-player, I'm a pvper; I like dungeons, not big on larger group raids. As far as PvP goes I like small group PvP, arenas, battlegrounds, dueling, etc. I also know a lot of these might be complicated to implement, so these are just ideas I'm throwing out.

So now that you have an idea of my preferences, here are the specifics!

1.6: Justice System:
When I first played Morrowind when I was younger, all I did in that game was steal. So I'm completely positive on this; I like that there are actual consequences for thievery now, and that makes it challenging and fun. I also like that provisioners now has to go out in the world to get its materials (or just steal them all riskily) like other professions and I don't really understand the complaints to the contrary. I enjoy crafting in this game, including provisioning. This only makes it more interesting to me, not less.

My only critique is that the PvP aspect of the Justice System has been put on hold, and some rumors suggest it's indefinite. I really, really hope that isn't the case, because I've been really looking forward to it.

Addition of Stamina-based morphs:
THANK YOU. These look great. It's nice to have some more variety now and it's much appreciated.

Werewolf:
Werewolf is improved, but still needs work on the time limit, and I know I'm not the only one saying this. It really doesn't feel like a werewolf when you're racing to eat people before your timer runs out. At the very least, this ultimate should be a toggle. My suggestion?

Make werewolf a reverse-ultimate that can be toggled at any time, and as a werewolf your ultimate drains, but if you do not transform and your ultimate goes off, you are forced to transform for 30 or so seconds. This would mean you would have to channel and use your bloodlust, much like vampires need to feed, in order to retain your humanity; you must pick and choose when you turn into a beast, lest you be forced into it. This would make werewolf an actual playstyle instead of a min-max tool that never sees the light of day (or full moon). It would also give people the opportunity to fully enjoy the werewolf skill line and make it feel like you really are battling the beast within, visibly, again like vampires. With this implemented it'd make sense to me for the ultimate to once again cost a large amount, so you aren't forced to transform every three kills.

I also think, with this, stealth should be added for werewolves. If big hulking orcs in full plate armor can stealth, I think beastly hunters should too.

I think werewolves are pretty comparable to any other class so I'm not sure it really needs a balance, but a pretty easy balance here would be that hey, you can actually SEE the big hairy beast charging at you, so you likely have enough time to pull out your silver bolts to shoot them up. And also when you're forced into a transformation you lose all your other abilities that you might have been counting on. Strategy is fun!

In addition to this, I think vampires and werewolves should be recognized in the Justice System. It would make sense to me that if you hit stage 4 on a vampire (and get too close to someone who sees that holy crap, you're veiny and pale and probably diseased, someone call the cops!) you would get flagged down. I can see this working much like the disguises we have in game right now; you're fine at a distance, but get too close and you're in danger.

Werewolves in werewolf form would also be flagged. We are, after all, monsters, and ought to be treated as such.

Costumes/Disguises/Clothes:
More more more! That you added stealable, normal-looking clothes from wardrobes and the like is AWESOME. Keep adding them. They're great. The availability of normal looking clothes, weapons and the like is amazing. I know a lot of people, including myself, like our characters looking normal. In addition to this I'm aware that vampire players would like various disguises to make them appear as if they are in various stages- maybe a vampire costume bundle in the crown shop of all stages including 'normal'? c: Any argument of needing to notice that a vampire is a vampire by looks alone is out the window given the variety of masks/costumes/completely covering items/etc we already have anyway.

Housing:
I know this is eventually in the works, but it's a huge part of the immersion of the Elder Scrolls. However, when it happens, I want it to happen RIGHT, so here are my suggestions:

Do NOT make the houses just a random instanced door in various towns. That takes quite a bit of the personalized house feel away. I know that's essentially how it worked in Skyrim pre-Hearthstone, but it’s not the best way.

I also don't think open world is a good idea. You could designate housing plots but even then, with the phasing, and it'd look very cluttered... I think, not to bring in other MMOs, but the way WildStar did it was also not that great since it was just one little solo plot and no real neighbors to speak of. LotRO had the right idea, of the MMOs I've played, in making little neighborhoods. However all the houses essentially looked the same and you didn't really build them, and customization was limited to different hooks.

I think the best route would be to make instanced 'neighborhoods' in various town gates and various locations for a variety of environments. Each neighborhood should have plots of land that you can build on, with different racial style houses and different sizes to pick from (cost-dependent, maybe requires a motif, etc). You can buy a plot and build in it, place the house where you'd like, place different yard items outside the house and inside the house. It would be pretty cool if the houses weren't instanced inside but had closable/lockable doors, however an instanced inside would make sense as well. Obviously you can sell different deluxe housing items in the crown store which is a BIG money maker for you, so you know, housing should definitely be at the forefront somewhere. *nudge nudge*

Random Number Generator Dice:
Please, please, please add this in. It's just a simple RNG, /roll (modifier) and it's SO USEFUL in almost every aspect of gameplay. Whether it's used as a rock paper scissors to determine who charges nose-first into the spider lair while everyone else shoots them from a safe distance, to who gets the special Creepy Spider Leg of Magical Taunting Intimidation because the healer seriously doesn't need it so who wants it, to D&D style roleplay events, to emoted combat, to RPed out games of dice.

Speaking of which, adding /rock, /paper, /scissors would be pretty cool as well.

Dueling:
Please, please, PLEASE add dueling. It would be super helpful for trying out builds, competing against friends, hosting player-made tournaments, combative RP-PvP, and so on. In order to keep things friendly and consensual, make the settings so that duels are automatically declined unless you turn the option on, much like chat bubbles, so those who don't want to see them don't have to go out of their way to dismiss them, and those who want them have the option.

Arenas/Battlegrounds:
I'd like to see small-scale PvP in the game in addition to the massive world PvP that is Cyrodiil. Dueling is the first step, in my opinion, but I'd also like to see competitive arena and battleground style PvP in the mix. Maybe 1 v 1, or because we have 3 factions, 1 v 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 2 v 2 v 2, and so on. As far as incentives and prizes go, I think they should be separate from world PvP so there's less of an issue with priorities. Maybe they give different titles (duelist, gladiator/lore-friendly equivalents), costumes, trophies to place in your house, and have leaderboards of their own, etc.

Mini-games:
I'd like to see more mini-games around. The Justice System is a great start to it, but even then it still feels like the things to do on your leveling/endgame downtime are a bit more limited- you have your typical questing, world pvp, dungeons, raids, and now some stealing fun, but it would be nice to see more things that you can even do with your friends. I think horse races were on the list at some point? When housing is in, it would be awesome to see game boards that you could buy for in your house where you can play with a friend- things like chess, checkers, maybe some kind of creative Tamriel games, cards? Some sort of zone where you can hop in and join a game of... Argonian Mud Hockey. I DUNNO. More quality of life stuff when you're hanging out with friends, maybe waiting for your guildees to log on for Trial runs or waiting for that guild meeting or just because it's fun and you can.

Mounted Combat:
Right now I don't even care if it's a simple weak physical attack of your horse kicking someone in the face or you doing a little swipe with your blade- anything to fulfill the urge I have of charging up and slashing at things. While I'd love to see mounted combat I know it's super complicated to work on and isn't a huge priority.

Movement through the World/Jumping Puzzles:
I wish we were able to climb and jump around the world more. When you jump on a roof or any other slightly slanted area you just slide right off; I'd love to be able to climb things, jump up to hard to reach places, hop to a rooftop or drop down to one and lurk in wait for a vulnerable NPC to pass under me. I want to see jumping puzzles around the world, whether they have chests at the top of them or are just a personal feat. What I'd love above all to see is some manner of climbing ability- being able to grab the edge of a roof if you jump close enough, being able to pull yourself up, being able to climb and even scale walls that look like they could be scaled.

At present things just feel so... clunky with regards to movement. I'd like to be able to climb and reach places, even if it's less in depth than what I mentioned.

The benefits for Zenimax from adding all of these features would be an increase in the playerbase, which also means an increase in profits from box sales as well as the cash shop, including new items related to the above additions that are likely to be good sellers. Many of them also provide tools for players to entertain their own content, like the aforementioned tournaments or games. Zenimax can rest happily at the end of day, and stroke their epeens, knowing their game is number one and that Taz helped contribute to its furthered success. Thanks for reading! Wholehearted agreements Comments are obviously welcome.

EDITS:

I can't figure out when it was implemented, but the camera settings where you can change where the camera sits behind your character for 3rd person is 1) GREAT THANK YOU SO MUCH and 2) might help with that angle problem for jumping puzzles? And I understand the concern, I don't want necessarily mandatory or rewarded jumping puzzles, but I really like being to climb up things and slanted objects causing you to just slide off of them makes that hard and feels super odd.

RP Phasing or Marking
Forgot to add this in the first time! I really want there to either be a phasing option for the megaserver in which you can choose to group with those who prefer to RP (which I imagine is the hard way to go about it, though it'd be really great to see).
OR/AND
A way to differentiate people who are flagged for RP and those who are not would be incredibly useful. I've been trying to think about how this would be done given the systems at hand- maybe a small symbol that pops up next to a name when you hover over it, or a differently colored name? Nothing obnoxious, of course.

Biography
I would like to see an option included in the round right click menu that is 'biography' or something similar. Just like you could click on trade with other player, send tell, etc, you could click on this biography option. While I am asking for this from the perspective of an RPer who would then write a blurb about my character (for example, currently injured and walking with a limp, maybe a brief history, a more detailed appearance, how I prefer to handle combat RP, etc- this might even be a good placeholder to say "CURRENTLY IN-CHARACTER" if no other options are available at that time), I think this might also be useful to other people as well. Maybe you could put down that your guild is recruiting, or that you're looking for this and that trial, or if you're always up for running around Cyrodiil if asked, or that you're a vampire willing to bite if asked, whatever the case may be. It would also be out of the way enough that you'd have to take a look on your own terms, so hopefully nobody would have a problem with it being in the way or anything.

Nameplates
I know it's been asked for before. And I know it's been put in before, so the coding is there! I think nameplates should be turned off as default with the option to turn them on. If having them in Cyrodiil is too much of a problem, I'd say just make them apply to your group and nothing else. Or turn it off in Cyrodiil if you must. But for the rest of the world, for me at least, I find it really helpful to have nameplates as an option. I play on a smaller screen, so the whole 'recognizing them by their unique look' thing ends up making me follow the wrong person for a bit before I have the presence of mind to hover over said person and realize I'd been going the wrong way. At the very least I'd like to see this as a group option. In real life, yes, you're going to recognize your friends, but in a game there are so many variables that it doesn't always work.

Player-made Music/ABC music
I think players should be able to make abc file music or some other easily accessible music notation to play in the world on a lute/drum/flute/etc. With this, I think there should be a separate volume slider for player music so those who don't want to hear it don't have to. Also please add a way to sync it if you're playing with friends! This adds a whole new wave of player-created content. Players can make and play music, they can form bands or become wandering bards, and there's always the potential for some ambiance in a tavern or player event; even if someone is playing modern music, when put on a lute, it doesn't really sound so jarring if you're getting Rick-rolled.

I know many of my suggestions have been suggested before, but it doesn't hurt to put them up again!

You mean well and from a PvP players view, this looks good.

However, ESO isnt a pvp only game.

I think you can improve this post. Take into account the whole of ESO. You locked PvP down. Add Immersion, story, global skills, new skills, balance, solo play, groups, elite raids, new encounters, etc.

Also, housing would rock. But ZoS really do understand what they said with housing needs to be done well.
They can make 3 new cyrodiil that works outstanding and it still would take longer to do a housing system that works well.

To be fair, Taz isn't a game developer and was just throwing their ideas out there. Since these are the suggestions of one person, you can't expect them to cover everyone's preferences. There seemed to be plenty of non-PvP suggestions; mini-games, housing, clothing/disguises, dice, etc. to compliment the PvP suggestions.

I argree completely I said once that there should be like small garden farms for crafting at the houses and different houses for classes maby a sorc has dad relics around it also if the houses were rob able but you can get like fences around it ( not the people the gate thing ) and a guard skill you pay a skill point for some cool ideas

Can I add that I definitely think the trophies you earn in the game should be added to your collections? Cuz it's a waste of space but I don't want to get rid of them

Some of this I can get behind, but the jump puzzles in GW2 were rough with the camera angle. Here I can only imagine some of the issues. May also want to improve vampires while improving werewolves

I agree that vampires and werewolves soups be flagged in the justice system. That just makes sense.

On your neighborhood idea, How would the system decide who your neighbor is? Would you always have the same neighbor?

(My 3 phase housing concept: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/145287/another-housing-suggestion-a-3-phase-release-plan)

I think we can all agree that this game needs open world pvp, I suggested an investigation mechanic that would accompany PvP here: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/146367/instigation-concept-for-justice-system-and-pvp

Arenas, mini games, and mounted combat? Yes, yes, yes!

You have some good ideas. Hopefully ZOS is listening.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

I always assumed it depends on who ends up buying the land next to yours. Let's say there's a housing complex in a field near Wayrest- it is instanced, and there are many different versions of the same instance, but they all have specific and unique names. So you decide to move into the Wayrest C Neighborhood because I can't come up with a clever name on the spot don't judge me. In this neighborhood, like all of them, there are numerous plots of land- let's say 20- and some cost more because their location is more desirable (waterfront property, for example). You can purchase this plot of land and build your home. Meanwhile, if someone else decides to also move into Wayrest C, and choose to purchase a plot whether it's near yours or not (but yours is already claimed) then they would be your neighbors.

Note: I think house choices and decorations ought to be varied but VERY LORE FRIENDLY. Otherwise people may have trouble with dinosaur-shaped hot pink duplexes moving in next to them.

ALSO, thanks for the comments everyone. I edited in four more suggestions after my edit break. There are others I have in mind but I can't for the life of me recall them right now so if I remember, I'll be putting in a second edit. Comments/suggestions still welcome! Keep 'em coming, always happy to take a second look at my ideas and realize if something doesn't work/works/could work better.
