4 of the costume packs are just basic ~lvl26 armor motifs from various races.. why would anyone want to buy these?

That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

Count me among the disappointed in the costumes. I was somehow absurdly sure they were going to offer more than what they had initially shown us. Especially since they had an entire thread dedicated to asking people what we would like to see. Yet not one of those requests was implemented for this first round of the store. Also, they had initially shown a black and red version of the wedding dress...and that's not even in there. What's up with that? It was the only costume I was considering buying.

Since so many people keep suggesting that costumes should be able to be dyed, hopefully ZOS will some how allow it. That would then add value to those very basic low level racial motif gear bundles.
Otherwise I agree with you. They are very basic and bland. Nothing special or unique since I can craft those items anyway.

I understand that some higher level gear isn't that great looking, that's why some people would choose this option.
I'm currently considering the heavy armor bundle as I have a some alts in light armor but don't like how it looks on them. Being able to dye that heavy armor would be a great incentive (wink wink ZOS)

That's on you. Have no expectations to avoid disappointment.

But that dress deal is odd. Was it on PTS? It doesn't make sense to remove it.

The armor in this game looks bad in general, atleast in my opinion. The only armor that looks good is the Imperial Heavy. The armor in Skyrim, Morrowind, etc. looked much better.

I am slightly dissappointed as well when it comes to the lack of red/black dresses to purchase, that one I was looking forward to due to its simplicity... But maybe it will still come someday. One can hope.

I was disappointed in the crown store costumes also. I was hoping for more. I bought the wedding dress because I am so desperate for a dress of some kind and that was my only option. The other costumes didn't interest me at all.

Lol you people need to learn patience. They essentially just pressed the big 'on' button for B2P/TU and thats a huge deal for them. Give it time to settle down, more will be added as time goes on. Its early days.

Edit: they did under promise and over deliver with timing of us getting crowns. Small yes, but credit where credit is due.

I cannot recall when they have under promised and over delivered... I'll happily accept someone informing me to the contrary though. Not a digg at them, it's just their style to market/advertise at or higher than they deliver.

Yep, some of the armor is just fugly. Except for the overly flamboyant shoulders, I think this was them trying to stay true to the lore more than anything else.

If they could allow costume dyeing, I'd be content until new ones are added. Having costumes for commoners, city folk, etc. would be great, without having to kill NPCs and loot their clothes. The blacksmith and chef costumes, for example, could be dyed a different color so that the character could have a different profession.

Don't forget their paranoia about being harmed in the hips. I wish we could have a "hide shoulders" and "hide hip pad" options.

I too was disappointed and thought the store would have more to offer. Anything I think looked remotely cool I had already seen on half a dozen people just logging in so I bought nothing. I will likely sit on my crowns like Scrooge until there is more variety and/or some player controlled customization available.

It's simply not special enough to be worth real money if every other player has it too.
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

They should simply have used appearance slots from the start.

Full body disguises are a nice gimmick, but they don't replace a proper customization system. And the crafting style selection we have is a really really poor substitute for a number of reasons.

There'll be more in the coming weeks, I'm sure. There's a thread here in which some of the future stuff has already been data mined: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/1619693/

This is just the first wave. No way they'll settle for just this stuff for weeks on end, it'd never make them any money ;)

Been asking for this since pre-beta, not yet had a single direct response from ZOS on the subject. But yeah, the single costume slot is a cheap cheat when compared to a proper cosmetics system.

I won't be buying any costume till I can customize it.

I don't want to play a game where there is customization only to walk around looking like everyone else.

Thats why I've already bought the Stealthy pack - I like how low-level breton armor looks.

Thank you, I forgot... Those sheets of plywood that swing several inches from the hips. Clearly, that's period appropriate and makes your character look most intelligent, lol.
