Dying costumes

Hello, I just purchased a jester costume, now don't get me wrong I am very happy with it but unless I missed something, is there really no way to dye it different colours?.

I also play gw2 and one of the fun things I like to do is purchase costumes and then colour them to suit me, it wouldn't surprise me if I have overlooked how to do this but if I havnt, could it perhaps be a consideration down the track to be able to do so?.

You cant dye it... No word if you will ever be able to, if it was planned today with the rate we see expansions it would be around 2017.

They need to add to dye costumes and shields.

Agreed. Some of the costumes are really good, but I'm not as interested if they can not be dyed - Kind of takes away the whole point of having a Dye system in the first place.

    This.

When first asked some 'green' posted something about technical problems; seemed obvious dyes weren't part of the planning for costumes and so the tech. they use for them simply doesn't seem to allow for this.

IMO it's a pity they went down the 'disguise' route for cosmetic looks rather than how other games do it and provide a means to use 'real' gear for cosmetic appearance while keeping the 'real' stats.

And no, I'm not saying this simply because <insert your most hated MMO game name here>> has it, it's because all games have a raft of gear much of which is great looking and is more than sufficient for personal customising.

The irony to me is that a good chunk of the player-base in ESO will be more inclined to be interested in 'looks' than some other MMOs but the system the game has in a one-piece outfit for all gear slots, which even if dying were possible would still lead to a very limited range of predetermined appearances.

Defeats the point of a custome in my opinion.

Bjorn Blackbear - Master Angler - Collector - Black Market Mogul - Ebonheart Pact - Exterminatus - EU.

For a game in 2015 this is very basic to have....kind of surprised they have not done it....

Seems they rushed the costumes into the store.

Games from almost 10 years ago have this...

Would also be nice if the costumes are piecewise items, that is the way armor is now with different slots, and in that way we can mix and match them for further customization. And players should also not be allowed to mix proper armor pieces with costume parts. i.e Wedding dress with Imperial Heavy shoulders, sash, boots and Helmet. Looks awful in my head but +1 for creativity, if you can call it that. :)

Give them a bit of time, the store just landed today, sure they'll improve what they are offering soon (tm) ; )

I also want dyeable costumes, it's the major point of customization when you buy a costume or you use a costume.
I have disguises I'd like to dye too and be able to customize more.

Tailoring could offer disguise customization for self. Things like removing unwanted sleeves for example, or neck cloth.

You should not only be able to dye it, and break it into pieces, you should be able to see how it looks on your character.

    No dressing room.

Who buys clothes without trying them on?

I missed that one, well found! True enough, a dressing room is a must to try on any costume or disguise before buying : D
I hope ZOS will read this thread : 3

Previewing different colours would be also nice.

    They won't make them dyeable.

But for the low, low price of $80 ( 8000 crowns ), they'll recolor any costume you purchase just for you!

I've been muted since November 2017 because of the whiny crybabies on this forum and the liberal ZOS employees coddling them.

You don't want a skeleton with bleached white bones? Or black? Really?

The absence of this feature only makes sense if you've never played a game that offered it.

This game launched without dyes, any dyes. Thus I accept that it launches with cash shop clothing you can't try on. But I expect we'll see a dressing room before too long ;)

Disregarding the stigma related to bumping, I'll bump this because I do believe it is a much needed addition. How else would I be able to replicate Abnur Tharn's Imperial Chancellor armor? :open_mouth:
