Trader Hire change crosses over with Patch and Maintenance

I recently became involved with trader bidding for a guild I'm in and I noticed that the trader changeover happens at maintenance time. This has made it difficult for the guild to negotiate for someone to be online when the server comes back up to ensure we will have a trader if we have lost our bid. When we don't know at what time the maintenance will complete and the server will be back up, this additional level of difficulty seems extreme, it seems outside the boundaries of reasonable gameplay. I guess I'm just curious, is there a special reason for why the trader changeover is scheduled to happen at the same time as the server is taken down for maintenance? Thanks

I agree... I have the same problem since they changed the maintenance time on the EU server last week.

The trouble is that there aren't that many GM's in game... and fewer who have traders.... and even fewer on the forums to make a bit of noise about this, even though it can have a major effect on trading guilds if they have no trader for a week or two.

Is there any way that either the maintenance can change by half an hour (Probably doubtful) or more realistically could you pull the guild trader switchover forward an hour to 1:00 GMT so it happens an hour before the EU server comes down for its new maintenance time?

Pulling it forward an hour would be sweet, or could trader changeover be on a different night altogether than maintenance.

You would have thought it would make more sense to have it say 6 or 7am GMT - or 8pm GMT in the evening.

It would allow for those working/with school/etc to actually manage it properly.

IMO trying to paper over the cracks of a fatally flawed economy is a waste of time, drop the clearly-failed guild trading system and put in a proper AH where everyone can take part in the game's economy as a whole and not in just their own small ghettos of 2500 people at most.

The guild trader idea is about the worst kind of trading system I've seen, where buyers are expected to spend hours traveling the world looking for traders: only FFXIV 1.0's utter fail of a 'retainer' system was worse.

Yeah. When daylight savings started again, it moved back to 8am EST, which is very inconvenient even if there is no maintenance.

Please consider changing it to an hour earlier.
