Explorers Pack in Crown Store - say it ain't so!

  • Quinz128ub17_ESO
Hey! Don't say the Explorer's pack shouldn't be sold. It was stupid to keep races faction dependent, and I had tried tog et my sister into the game, but without being able to play what she wanted where she wanted she passed, because she didn't notice it coming out in the pre-order time. In anticipation the Explorer's pack WOULD be sold, I gifted her the game. If it's not, well, I'm out 60$ because she said she wouldn't play if she couldn't pick what she wanted.

So, yes, as someone who preordered to get the pack, JUST FOR THE ABILITY TO PLAY ANY RACE/ANY FACTION! Don't complain for an option that would make people actually play the game.

    kthnx.

Odd, I just bought the game for PC version, and it came with an explorer's pack code, but when I typed it in, it gave me an error, saying I cannot use it.

    Did someone steal it?
Am I suppose to be able to use it or not?
I just bought the game for PC like a week ago.

How do I get customer support on such issues? Kind of angry it gives me a code but I cannot use it.
Bought game at Target if that makes any difference.

Crown store pretty much rules out any long term "exclusives" . In time I expect the loyalty rewards to be sold. But you will enjoy some period of exclusivity which does have value. Time to forget about strutting around like you're special. :)

Personally, I wouldn't care if it is. I have the pre-order bonus, but it does not affect me negatively in any way at all if people are suddenly allowed to get it again. In fact, it can only affect me positively, because that means people will spend more money on the game, which in the long run, will make it a better game.

I still have an exclusive, even. I got the bonus for free, simply by clicking a few buttons on Amazon.com before the game was released. I didn't have to pay any extra, or any sooner. I just had to make a promise to buy it before it came out. If the picture is accurate, anyone that gets it now will have to pay $15.00 for something I got for free.

It ain't so. The text clearly says "Adventurer Pack". Isn't that a different pet? It's not exactly the same thing, just almost exactly. So technically they're in the clear.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised at this point by a light re-skinning and sale of a package almost but not quite identical to the original "exclusive" one. See: Senche Mount variants and various pets in the game files for crown store release. If something will make them money, they will sell it. This is a business, not your boyfriend. Stop expecting them to make you feel special!

the freedom to play any character in any alliance does open the door for more customers, if my friend is and allways plays an "orc" and i allways play a dark elf, then we should be able to do that together.
so for me i am happy others can do it also. :)

Why not? The Explorer's Pack was the sole reason why I pre-ordered, but I'd be happy if it was available to everyone. It isn't Elder Scrolls if you aren't free to choose your allegiance independently of race.

As I said at the start, it was a mistake to limit it at all if they were going to let pre-orders get it.
I agree, it should be universal, but promising it as an exclusive for pre-orders and then 'changing their minds' and selling it off is a pretty scumbag move, especially when it's not on the PTS. If they were going to pull this stunt, they could at least let us know in advance instead of keeping us in the dark until it's already happened. It's the complete lack of transparency that gets me.
I also agree that was a mistake. What I don't get is turning around and wanting to hold onto that mistake like it's sacred. I see this as possibly undoing some of the damage for that mistake, especially on the DC side. I'll be glad if they open it up, even though I prefer it was part of the core game.

Yeah, agreed. I'm happy that my wife can roll a Khajiit (she'll never choose any other race) without being forced into another faction. And at the end of the day, stuff has to change with the different payment model now, they couldn't have anticipated that at launch. But they should have told us. Not sweep it under the carpet (deliberately omitting it from the PTS update, for example) and then throw it onto live and duck while the crap flies.

But this could all be much ado about nothing, if it doesn't show up in the crown store.

The Digital Imperial Edition has been available for $20 bucks in the Bethesda Store since launch. That gave you the Any Race any Alliance ability.

The Explorers pack that had all the maps and a couple other pets was said to not ever be for sale after launch.

The graphic you post does have any information as to what is in that Adventurer Bundle... but really?? Does anyone really care if you can buy a pack that provides all the maps?? I only ever looked for the one in Audrion and Khenarthi's Roost. After that I just didn't see the rewards being worth the effort.

This is much ado about nothing....
Imperial Edition does not give you any race in any faction. It gives you the Imperial race in any faction.

That's funny because I bought the Digital Imperial Edition as a pre-order before Beta... My game has always had the Any Race and Any Alliance feature. With the Imperial Horse and the Imperial Race. It had a couple of mud crabs pets.

All the maps and a couple other pets were the Explorer's Pack which was included for the $79.99.

They didn't offer the Explorers Pack add on after launch.

You could still pre-order normal one and have the pack as it was a pre-order only bonus.

The bolded part is why. Any race/any alliance was a pre-order perk, not an IE perk. If you pre-ordered the IE, then obviously you got perks from both, as did I. However someone that pre-ordered the regular edition does not have access to Imperial race, and someone that bought the IE at or after release does not get any race in any faction, only Imperial in any faction.

That's because you pre-ordered the game. That was how you gained access to the Explorer's Pack and any race in any alliance. If someone buys the Imperial Edition upgrade today they would not gain access to any race in any alliance.

Well, we don't really know. This is currently all speculation. I (and others) were just pointing out how certain perks were gotten because of pre-order, and other perks were because of having the Imperial Edition, specifically that any race in any alliance was a pre-order perk, not an Imperial edition perk.

We won't know what is ACTUALLY in the crown store until it opens, or ZOS make an official statement detailing what's in it.

well thats fair, and thank you for the answer, i do agree with it.
but my problem is like i said earlier that if my friend wants to play an orc and i want to play a dark elf then we should be able to play together. and i welcome it :)

look, the ship has sailed about them trying to make us feel special for being in at the very start and opening crowd and paying 1 year of sub and helping out in the beta and basicly pioneers to eso and setting 1st foot on tamriel soil in eso.
that ship has sailed, they obviously dont see us as special and the rewards are no longer special.
now if they wish to create something new for us old timer customers then that would be awesome and i welcome it with open arms and even a smile :)

The "any race, any alliance" thing should have been stock in the game from the beginning. A race/alliance limitation in an ES game is totally stupid. It's a shame that players even have to pay extra for this at all, but when you are F2P, these are the types of things you do.

Anyone who thinks that the "any race, any alliance" option should ONLY be available to people that pre-ordered the game (over a year ago), and should NEVER be offered to new players, is simply being selfish. ZOS would be absolutely stupid for not offering this, and anyone that thinks otherwise needs to view it from their perspective.

When ZO$ puts SO gear and the like in the Crown Store, I'll put on my water wings and jump ship... but until then, I won't worry about those "little things" (e.g. that are not directly P2W items) they put into the store. A pet and maps to some treasure chests that give you some gold and a few green or blue items (that will be sold to the vendor or deconstructed) is not at all game breaking.

The Crown Store is not going away and ZO$ will use it to make whatever money they can. In my opinion, then, we ought to be strategically supportive of certain things in attempt to keep 'other' things out of the store.
