@Sky Chancellor you keep speaking of immersion which is a fine thing to focus on and I understand whispers can break that. However for the sake of realism (which helps improve immersion) wouldn't it make sense to hear what /say and /yell reveal to the enemy.
If your focus is immersion for yourself then create a cat filter which doesn't show whispers or other chat you wish to read, I can't imagine you can be immersed in Cyrodiil at all with any chats open. The zone chats are people giving OOC orders or arguing, any Cyrodiil groups are all OOC and immersion breaking discussion as well.
True immersion would be when you meet a player face to face who is a rival you could dialogue with one another before fighting, or maybe agree the war is stupid and you regret that you must now fight.
For full immersion into a world you need to either remove every element of interactions with other players, or bring it more towards a realistic point of view where they can interact normally.
I don't mean this as an attack but what you're asking for is a change which effects every single player in the game to satisfy your personal dislikes, ones which can be worked around yourself and leaves current implemented features open for those who use them.
I love RP and immersion in a game, I quite often shrink my chat and go into offline mode so I don't receive any whispers just to lose myself in the world for a while, however there come times when I am in PVP and beat a player after a good long five minute back and forth duel and really want to just player to player say thank you for the goof fights.

are you saying that we would not be able to communicate with anyone outside of cyrodiil while we are in pvp???? im an admin for a major trading guild and am active in many other cross alliance guilds. to not be able to communicate with my friends because some scrub is worried about immersion and doesn't know how to use the /ignore feature would be game breaking for me.
heed my words Mr. Wheeler....disable chat in any capacity while players are in cyrodiil and lose half of your player base. PERIOD.

I like communicating cross faction, it allows us to set up duels and proper small scale pvp from time to time. While sometimes it is very easy to get frustrated and mad at other players (we are all guilty of this... except me... never), the majority of my tells are complimentary assuming the person is also friendly back.

That's really classy, to come on here and call me a "scrub". Did it ever occur to you that perhaps BW wants the game to appeal to more mature folks?
I came on here to voice an opinion. An opinion in which I am entitled to have. This is exactly the type of "trash" talk that people display in game. Because something doesn't go your way and you ganked, you have to complain about it. You have to start calling people names or "messaging profanity". Did it ever occur to you that perhaps I have people that I want to talk to and don't want to waste my time even putting people like you on ignore. Weeding through my chat, then selecting your name is just a waste of time. Just like reading this post. A waste of time. That is exactly the road ESO is headed. A B2P, trash player experience. With no RvRvR pride.
This post above by Sphinx, what did he just say? He is speaking trash. Would he say this to me in person? No he wouldn't. Internet courage at its finest folks. That is what we see in ESO. Quite pathetic.

Yet, you did read it then took up even more of your precious time to type out nearly 200 words in response to what you read. Well played
