Elridge✭✭✭I'm glad they went with subscription being minimalistic , in terms of not providing too much of an edge. However, I kinda agree, not much reason to stay subbed with how long new content takes. They stated there won't be any new large content til around June/July... That's 3 months of paying sub, waiting for new content.. that costs almost about as much as a brand new game. I dunno how much 1500 crowns cost though. There's also an inspiration and research time bonus of 10% if you're a crafter.
Not to say the content isn't really fun, I'm having alot of fun with 1.6, but if new content takes 3 months.. that's 45$ of sub fees for waiting. Didn't ya hear? Loyalty rewards are gone, nothing after the 12 month mount. They said they are putting in the 1500 crowns so people can pick their own Loyalty rewards.

Mpcolson✭✭✭The only benefit is the performance perks, 10% bonuses on XP and crafting etc. AND the monthly Crowns.
Eventually there will be DLC thats included free with your sub vs. buying the DLC. But a point can be made buying the DLC sets a fixed cost and unlimited play time vs. constant monthly subs adding up to more than the free DLC is worth.
When I think about it, I'm torn between the DLC access or not... That's the only really valuable item to the sub plan. I just think a DLC pack costing $20 is smarter to purchase than to continue to pay $15 a month for it.0 -

Game is free to play monthly after you buy the box, so obviously you're not paying for monthly access.
You get 1500 crowns. That's $15 worth of crowns. You are paying for your "stipend".
You get "access" to dlc while "subbed". You lose access when you drop sub. So you're not getting any free content for your sub, you'rejust getting "free" rental when you buy your 1500 crowns.
Or you buy the dlc and no sub needed for it. At the rate this game releases content, far cheaper to buy dlc as it comes than the accumulated amount you've spent for your "free" crowns the six months before it.
A smart person skips the sub and just buys the dlc when it comes out for.

Okay, that's definitely worth a sub. Surely.

Considering that a typical stipend is earned after doing some work and is therefore not free money, I feel that "stipend" is fairly accurate in terms of what is being offered. You may not like what is being offered for subbing, but it does not follow that there is no value in the offer.
If you don't like it, then don't sub. If your concern is what others may say about you not subbing, then perhaps the internet is not for you. Be careful though, if you decide to sub you may find yourself in the "nimrod" category.1 -
