I have a 50 mbps connection, for this game the average I download is only about 10mbps (slower on patch days) with nothing wrong with my connection at my end. Well, even my antique DOCSIS 2.0 modem is able to pull 3.5mbytes/sec (~28mbps) @Folkb. Either they're on satellite connections on a desert island in the middle of the Antarctic Circle, or they're exaggerating just to complain.
That was about the same average speed I downloaded a year ago on my 12 mbps connection at my old place.
Yes, sometimes I do go way faster to my max speed, and sometimes I drop down to 5 mbps.
Having a high speed modem doesn't mean crap when the source of the download isn't uploading fast to you.

I sincerely doubt that the speed of your modem/internet connection is a big contender here. I'm on a 200 Mbit cable connection -- which used to be a 180 Mbit until 2 weeks ago -- and only download patches at a maximum of 6.2 MB/sec. So ZOS has probably put a max of 50 Mbit on downloads for hardware that's capable of reaching those speeds.Attorneyatlawl wrote: »

There's other things they do besides just deploy the patch. Especially since this is the last maintenance before TU launch. Even the account management page is down. Probably lots of behind the scenes and database related maintenance going on. Making sure all accounts are setup to get access to the game, making sure accounts that are sub'd get ESO plus applied, making sure everyone gets the appropriate amount of crowns based on current/past subs etc etc. So many things that could go very wrong. According to ESO live Podcast 3/13...
People need to be aware that the crowns for time subscribed etc. can take as much as a week to get sent out. There is a possibility that you don't get your bonus crowns immediately.

There shouldn't be much in this update aside from big fixes and a new Bink or two, and at least the bug fixes aren't usually very big. If there are any audio fixes, that'll likely bump it up by a few gigs, but I don't think there's any audio that needs fixing this time?
The bankers in the Thieves areas do not move their their lips while they talk. The audio (file) plays fine, but there is no animation to sync with the char model lips. How big are animation files normally?

Final Fantasy XIV has better graphics and animations with even more flashy particle effects and I have seen lots of console gamers in crowded open world boss fights

I think it depends on how big the bundle that it's part of is, which is not usually more than 400MB.

I think that was just a launcher update, not a patch on the client.

Interesting, because I don't think I've ever seen the patcher not max out my available connection speed since launch.

Or they moved out to the boonies, and no one but the gamer stopped to think the internet was *** before they moved.0
