1) My DLC is only active as a subscriber.
2) No decrease in the cost of subscription.
I have to think that the ultimate goal is to kill off subscribers.

Rage. Goddess, sing the rage of Peleus' son Achilles,
murderous, doomed, that cost the Achaeans countless losses,
hurling down to the House of Death so many sturdy souls…

But you also get 1500 Crowns, which, if the PTS was any indication, would equal aprox. $15 of real money. Also, there were rumours about ZOS adding a 12 month subscription, which would reduce the monthly subscription rate.
Not to mention, as a subscriber you get +10% inspiration, experience, and gold gain. Aside from supporting the development team, I feel like the rewards are worth it.
The beauty of this system compared to purely sub-based ones is that you can buy the DLC at no cost through your monthly crown allowance and if you decide to cancel for a while you can still play the rest of the game without interruption and for free. Perhaps the OP would prefer the usual sub-based system whereby when he cancels he can't play the game at all.

Most people here do prefer the subscription only option. Moving to B2P is considered a sign of decline for every AAA MMO title.

"Supporting the development team"? How can anyone believe that after this first year.

Its only worth it if,
you min / max and therefore must always get the best out of your char for trial leaderboards & co
you are a cosmetic junky and need tons of pets, mounts and costumes
Its not worth it if,
you are a casual and don't need to be the first in everything
you don't do trials and therefore wont need 50% + of the DLC´s offered
The whole question if its worth it or not, depends highly on each individual player. Saying that the sub is worth it is as wrong as saying the sub isn't. Different people have different desires in games.
1500 Crowns are not even worth mentioning when there is nothing interesting in the store.
