How to enact change.

I have been thinking about this while uploading a stupidly large database.

This is not the forum for change (see what I did there?). We are a group of people that are emotionally invested in this game sure, but a small minority at best that is usually fractured anyway.

We need to hold them accountable to the general public, to whom they are going to be shoveling the same promises to they did to us.

So how do we enact change especially since we can't really vote with our wallets?

Engage on social media.

The outlet for information about the game to the masses that will be purchasing in a few days, and those coming back.

A HELL of of a lot more people are looking at social media than these forums, so if you have a problem, gripe, issue, idea or solution. Bring it to them where they can't censor you like they can here.

Don't troll the pages though, but do engage on a neutral playing field.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

If this game was running smoothly, then these forums probably would not exist (at least not in the same capacity). Probably 90% of the people that come here to use these forums are here to complain. When the game is fun and working well nobody gets on because they are playing and having fun. I am guilty of this. What you are proposing is that people with problems flame other media outlets. This will inevitably lead potential buyers/players seeing 90% negativity and just saying no thanks.

The bottom line is that if you are being censored then the devs/moderators are reading your complaints. Dont think that our issues are not being worked on. Please don't encourage any further destruction of the ESO community or the future community by advocating what you are.... You say it will add accountability... It wont. PERIOD.

Not flame in any way, ask the questions that aren't being answered here in a public forum. So you would encourage new players to jump into this game right now?

Enjoy your 1-50 experience. Maybe when they get burnt out from doing everything 100s of times there will be more to buy, errr do.

I was not suggesting that you were advocating flaming. I was simply pointing out what will inevitably happen if people take your suggestion to heart.
As for whether or not I would recommend this game to a friend...I would. Of course there are many issues. I complain about them all the time in these forums. I am just hoping that an influx of player base will help drive good changes/fixes and I would not want anything to hinder that in any way. :)

The problem with your idea however is that it just airs more information about how this is a horrible game that no one should play, they lose customers and as such revenue then eventually close the servers and the game goes.

The BEST way to enact change is to post constructively and with as much data as you can. The issue with trying to gripe in social media (which I do) is it also gives the Developers more reasons not to want to engage their community, would you want to talk to a bunch of people who trash talk your work, scream demands and insult you at every turn?

I posted this thread back after release with a quote from a CCP Developer (EVE Online) where he explained why he replied to some posts over other. Link is below.

Any new players that have already started are experiencing the exact same issues we are. Consistent Game Lag where there was none before. If ZOS really wants to make the game enjoyable, especially for people coming in, they need to fix this lag immediately. I'm not talking about Cyrodil lag which has always been there, I'm talking about normal daily lag. Spell casting delays, lag spikes while trying to flee from the guards, lag in loading screens etc. The kind of computer has doesn't matter when it's server lag. There won't be anyone buying this game for Consoles in 3 months if they don't fix this stuff now.

If ZOS communicated better on every day issues with us either here or with game posts you wouldn't have to even consider going to social media. IMO the only thing that will happen by broadcasting all of the daily issues there will turn off all future purchases for the game eventually killing it. ZOS needs to communicate more frequently with it's existing player base period. It's easy to put a post that you can see when you log into the game that addresses daily issues. Then we'd at least know they have heard the issue and are trying to resolve it.

The best way to make sure the developers see your feedback is to submit it directly to them via the official forms online or in-game.

The only reason people air grievances on public forums or social media is to spur a debate (or more often to simply feel validated by others).

Submitting on these forums has gotten us exactly ***, so that option is out. Submitted in game for 8 months and the issues are still there, so that option is out.

The only thing we have left is a public forum, spurring debate is not a bad thing and not sure where the validated by others thing comes into play, but if that's how you feel I am not going to try and negate that.

I'm not discounting the benefit of spurring debate. I'm simply pointing out that if your only goal is to reach the developers with your feedback, the official forms are the best way.

Now, they may not act based on your feedback. That's their prerogative. But if you submit it via the forms, you guarantee that the feedback is seen internally at ZO.
