Horse movement: Fixin' what ain't broke

So with 1.6 comes brand new horse physics that has completely borked the way horses move now. Horses jerk back and forth now with even the slightest amount of movement as if theyre hopped up on LSD, and they regularly start and stop moving every now and again even when riding on flat surfaces.

The question is, though, why did you feel the need to fix what wasn't even broken to begin with? No one's been complaining about horse movement at all, and yet you felt the need to go ahead and "fix" it anyway. And yet you continue to ignore all the other stuff that need to be fixed that players have been complaining about (class balance, grouping, AvA, etc.) Gotta love your priorities, Zenimax.

    I couldn't agree more. It's really hard to control a horse now. It stops and starts for no reason, and feels more like it's skating at super speeds on ice when in motion. Horrible.

    I wonder if it isn't tangentially related to the changes that allow us to now switch weapons and cast Rapid Maneuver while mounted (which are awesome, awesome changes). But yeah sometimes it feels like one step forward and two steps back.

    I agree that the new movement is pretty clunky and the previous movement worked just fine, but it DID have some issues and people DID complain about it. Horses would stop upon encountering the smallest of obstacles....sometimes changes in elevation that you could barely see if you examined them closely. This update was supposed to address that....but it seems they went a bit overboard.

    I love how I'm sprinting through Cyro, hit a pebble and come to a full stop.

    Or a slight tap of a straife key sends me in a 180. >_>

    Makes for an interesting, if not slightly nauseating, experience..

    Actually, yes, they have, a LOT!

    There have been many complaints about horses stuck on terrain like small rocks, some steps, etc., I'm pretty sure THAT's why ZOS had someone alter horse movement.

    They did a good work with mounts and small obstacles, the only problem now, is that in anytime your riding your mount sometimes stops. Yes, there is no obstacle, nothing, but stops. In the begining I thought was because maybe I was not pressing good the keyboard... but then I realize is some kind of bug.


    I will suggest to fix or try really at least in the name of god to improve the next points:

    1- Lag.
    2- Responsiveness - This is something very, very important is a thing of 99% of the game. Sometimes you are questing and you want to talk with an NPC and is like you can't. Also in fights, you press your skill and doesn't take any order.


    Fix that and you would have the best game in the market.

    if you cant control your horse you may need some more riding lessons....

    Happened to me yesterday, I rode into water to dismount :D
    Is there a way to make the horse just trot, or walk? I don't want to gallop through towns all the time.

    You have to press a key one more time to talk to npc or wait second or two before it works..

    They fixed so the horse dont get stuck on small obstacles.
    Now it just get stuck when there are no obstacles.

    Also annoying when you pop a menu while on horse, and it turns 180 degress to face you

    Sure.
    Key-bind a key to toggle your 'toon to walk.

    Use the same key while mounted. It's an on/off switch.

    Totally agree. My 1.5 horse was the best its been during the life of the game. Now its back to launch status, except instead of dismounting every 10 seconds, I am just stopping.
    Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
    Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
    Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
    Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
    Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
    Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.
    Werewolf is not equal to Vamps/Bats.

    You can also open your Map, click on a Wayshrine to $-port, then cancel it.
