Is there still a significant benefit to wearing cloth anymore?

Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to wonder ever since 1.6 if there is any real benefit to wearing cloth armor. It seems that armor rating has become especially significant in PvP and cloth no longer seems to even have an advantage in spell resistance. I feel like this is a pattern with the devs. If something is exceptionally underpowered they end up doing a 180 and making it OP, like they did with snipe. Is this another case of the devs attempting to fix something by going completely overboard in the opposite direction or am I just missing something?

If you like magic damage, its pretty needed. Also for the heals. The meta I believe will shift to wearing 5 of your chosen and one of each other for the 6% increase in undaunted resources.

    5L/1m/1h
    5h/1m/1l
    5m/1l/1h

Also, armor on rings is nice for pvp. Plus shield stacking makes you pretty tough.

Now, wearing cloth with sword and shield and pretending you can take physical hits like a tank is gone, thankfully.

Well; it makes it easier to get magicka damage/power if you are going a magicka based character. You could do that in heavy or medium but you will have to use your sets more for regen and damage and theres only so far you can take that.

That said; the question would be on whether it was worth it for all the lack of armor you have. You pretty much can make up for that with shields which are better than armor anyway; you just have to keep them up.

So are magicka builds using heavy armor in PvP and light armor in PvE? I made a set of heavy armor for my sorcerer 5 seducer and 3 torugs and there was a negligible difference in my spells tooltip damage. Would I lose a damage bonus that I'm not just not noticing or overlooking?

Full Medium w/ Divines + Serpent Mundus Stone is great for healers.

    Yes.

You need it for magicka regeneration. Also the set bonuses on light armor those that you typically need.

But that's it. The armor protection is provides in almost nil and that spell resistance passive it provides is almost worthless. In short, don't get hit by anything

Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.
