Deleting a lvl 41 character for better racials?

Am I nuts for thinking about this? Keep in mind I have a Templar who is Vet Rank 1.

Okay I have this level 41 Dark Elf Sorcerer. He splits stamina and magicka and uses a bow and staff. He is very fun. The issue is that I want a Nightblade bow character and really want a High Elf. When I started playing this High Elf I looked at the racials and they are overwhelmingly in favor of being a Sorcerer.

So I am thinking of deleting this lvl 41 Sorcerer, and re-creating him, as a Dark Elf Nightblade (stamina) who uses a bow. Then creating a High Elf Sorcerer who uses a staff. (magicka). Now, the synergy will be much better but the question is, is it worth it?

I do enjoy having an "Arcane Archer" type build with this lvl 41 sorcerer but I can still kind of get that with some of the Nightblade skills that use magic.

So the question is, is getting better racials, and keeping them as PURE classes (using mostly stam or magicka) worth it?

No, leveling up takes a while, he is fun, and who cares about min/maxing?

I see the votes are in favor of not deleting. So, is there anything wrong with a High Elf Nightblade then? Will he be gimped?

Honestly, there is your answer right there.

If you can be anything, be kind.

I just don't see the point in deleting a character you enjoy playing
That which we obtain to cheap we esteem to lightly, it is dearness only that gives everything its value.

No point in deleting a character anyway, you have 8 slots and you might want to come back to it later. At the very least you can brag about it in your sig xD and why quit something if you're having fun?

You can grind a character to V1 in at most 6 days, I've done that to 4 characters. If you're not happy with your character better to change it at non-vet then vet.

I love my sorceress, not sure what all the "complaining" is all about :D Play what you enjoy playing, forget min / maxers and elitists and what they think about your char. This is your gaming experience and not theirs, don't let them force you to swap chars.

As someone whose spent way too much time re-rolling characters for better race/class synergy with builds I'd say that if you're enjoying the dark elf sorc, stick with him. The beauty of this game is that with the right skill and play style you can make almost anything work and dark elf is a strong racial pick for what you're doing (magika/stamina split with fire resist for vamp + fire damage for destro staff)

With that said, level 41 does not take long to reach (depending on your method of leveling). Grinding can get you from 1-50 in roughly 10 hours if you know the locations & methods(If you're on NA DC I can show you). If you feel that this build/race/class synergy is something that will bother you later on then it would be best to reroll now before putting more time into the character only to reroll later.

My Nightblade is an Altmer, it's certainly not gimped... It's actually great.

Race change will eventually be in the crown store. Its too big of a money maker to not be. People will pay $20 a pop, myself included.

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

Why delete him why not just make a new character and keep your old one

Dark Elves make excellent vampires... make that character your vampire.

Also, I ran around Skyrim for hundreds of hours with a magic-casting Redguard...... there is nothing funky about a Sorcerer Dark Elf in ESO or any TES game. Also, as others have said.. if you are having fun with the character then why delete it? Make another character with the other slots, that's all.

Last but not least... it's good to have fire resist passives. DKs will be less lethal to you as will be several dungeons and plenty of Vet-level NPC enemies.

I play a Dark Elf Templar as a magicka user(I made her Dark Elf by choice).
I don't think you messed up, really.
Play if you like that character. It's not a bad choice IMHO. Become a vamp.

What 'better racials' exactly do you expect to get?
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

As long as you're having fun!

I think maybe the only character I have that's more or less optimized in terms of race/class is my Orc DK. Everybody else was more of a "what do I feel like making today" decision and I'm having fun with them.

Though as others said, leveling to V1 is not too hard, so you can always roll an alt.

I get that you want to play some sort hybrid caster/archer and that Dunmer passives looks perfect for that. But a build like that isn't going work as you get higher level. Not after the removal of soft-caps and introduction of CP. Sure you can mess around bow and spells at lower levels, but eventually you have to make a choice if you want to keep "the fun" going.

Do you want or be a hard-hitting archer and wielder of sharp weapons or a powerful caster? You cant have both, since the dmg scales from completely different sources and attributes.

So if you're going to start all over again to get the most effective race, do it properly. If you want to use a bow the most, than go for a race that's perfect for a stamina build. Redguard or the master race from ESO store(imperial), those are strong choices. Orc and bosmer works great to.

If you're going to play caster than altmer, dunmer, breton or the master race from ESO store (imperial).

The amount of characters i've deleted is crazy!

Just 2 days before 1.6 i deleted a VR2 Breton NB and a level 48 Orsimer DK. In the past i have deleted a VR1 Bow Wood elf templar because i didnt like her hair and numerous other characters just because i had some special new idea for a build and not enough room.

Well, I have decided to do the best of both worlds.

My Dark Elf Sorcerer is going to become a full time Sorcerer (full magicka) with a staff. I just used a Lightening Staff for the first time and fell in love with the channeling attack.

I will make an Imperial Nightblade as my Archer. Sounds like a lot of fun.

You all have been very helpful!
