New buff system, nice. How about letting us track it properly?

Let me just begin by saying, this has been said so many times yet Zenimax seem to completely uninterested in providing us with any necessary combat information through the UI - and while I hate it, that's OK, we have addons. However, there are some restrictions on the API and especially when it comes to buffs, that are completely ridiculous.

For example, I'm guessing most people know that you can see certain effects that are applied to you under "Active Effects" if you go to your Character Screen (C). Did you also know that this is restricted to only showing you effects that last longer than 30 seconds? Did you know this is the reason that you cannot have proper buff tracking but instead get addons that track your button presses/releases and approximates how long your buffs will last? Did you know that the reason you think that taunts are broken is because if you click two skills too fast and the hit doesn't actually register your addon will still track it because you did press the button?

Some people will of course as always claim that all this information is available through visual effects and that it's immersion and beautiful. You are of course entitled to your opinion in that regard, but I invite you to have a look at this video of how it actually looks when you are in an endgame raid such as Sanctum Ophidia, and if you wish to claim that no one needs addons and/or that this information should not be made available - you should first look at this and honestly evaluate whether you could possibly do it using these beloved "visual indicators":

Now, I thought as this new buff system was introduced in Update 6 (love it, btw) Zenimax would once and for all go out and actually fix this issue, at the very least for your self and group buffs. I mean we got all these neat buffs like Minor Prophecy from Sorcs using Dark Magic and whatever, which is really nice, but what is the point of it if no one will ever see or understand when it applies, what it does and where it comes from? How could you possibly think that not showing these effects in "Active Effects" which is supposedly a list of exactly that.. buffs and debuffs.. was a good idea?

Why are we here in 2015 and still relying on tracking which button is pressed to know what effects we are actually applying?

If it's too immersion breaking for people that this is available through an optional setting - at least give the information through the Addon API.

ESO is the first game I started hating the term "immersion" because it led to many questionable design decisions.

Yeah, I agree that there needs to be more information available to players regarding the long list of buffs that were introduced in patch 1.6 It's very confusing and hard to keep track of which buffs you have active at the same time. Also some of the skill line descriptions and skill morphs do not explain what the buffs do, which kind of leaves you guessing. Is there an in game menu that explains the buffs like Major Brutality, Minor Prophecy etc. ?
