Capes/Cloaks?
What do you guys think about capes and cloaks for your character to wear? I think that it would make my character look a lot more sneaky and mysterious. The option would probably have to be toggleable for everyone so there computer doesn't explode when 500 people wear capes come on screen, or some sort of slider for the complexity of the cap physics.

✭✭✭✭Another option would be making them extremely rare/hard to get, so only a few people would wear them (which would add to realism immersion as well).
This would greatly reduce the strain on server performance (when not everyone would be wearing them).Edited by DDuke on March 7, 2015 4:44PM0 -
Zershar_Vemod✭✭✭✭✭A thread was made a few days ago about this, but I'll mention what I mentioned in there. If you look at gameplay trailers before launch, you'll see one of the players in Imperial gear with a cape. There have also been screenshots from basic early testing with capes, etc.
Capes are in fact already made for the game, ZOS took them out though later on.
Easiest example is at 9:01and then in 9:08
These were with Imperial and possibly an old Dwemer armor.

Yea you can clearly see that those two characters you pointed out are wearing capes, I wonder if they took them out for performance reasons or if they were just two hard to get right and looked bad.0

Agreed. For those who can't figure out search, the two main reasons given for lack of capes are:
1. Problems with graphic intensity on game ( no one knows for a fact this is true, but it is often cited).
2. Paul Sage has a thing against capes, and spams his staff with "The Incredibles" clips when they suggest it. Don't know how true this is, but it is in official comments.

I think I recall from around beta a couple people were asking what happened to capes and I believe it was performance / they didn't look right while running, etc. But I wouldn't mind seeing capes being brought back.House Nyssara (NA)

✭✭✭✭✭Ah, another of the "capes/no capes" threads... yes, its been done a lot of times befotre, and likely will pop up a lot of times in the future, sionce enough players want some sort of cloak or cape.
And Liches still have them in the game for those who'd want to know...
Yes, making capes look good beyond "flapping over the back, limbs clipping through" is a processor-time hog. Still... it would be neat to have even that. And if there was a "back" slot for capes and cloaks, there could be other fun stuff put there... oversized backpacks? Samurai-flick style back banners? Possibly also other not-exactly-back visual-only additions... floaty crystals for all those who miss ioun stone visuals? Aura runestone? So many possibilities...0 -

Richard_Ralh✭✭Right now, as it stands, there are no cloaks or capes! Personally I think cloaks/capes should be allowed but be reserved to show allegiance to an alliance or player created guild! Capes have been said not to work as a). they were too much of a graphical strain to have fully and properly animated, and b). the early ones they had were awful, so I don't miss them.
I would love them (like the mod ones from Skyrim) but alas it will not work apparently.I have departed into the great unknown that is outside the game and the forums, and wish you well in your Tamriel adventures!

This is the one the one that popped up on google first, so it's what I used! I do all my searches through google, that way I can narrow it down to what I'm looking for and not just something that might be similar! Besides there's a difference between someone asking a question and someone submitting a poll, right?
