Rare Motifs

I've got a VR3 and a VR4. I've opened a zillion desks, bookcases, baskets and urns. I've never found a rare motif, not a one.

How can I improve my odds?

Did the Justice system just make it infinitely harder for me?

Sadly the RNG gods just hate some people (I'm generally one of them). I have found a few rare motifs over the last year, but only a few (can count on one hand). I'm not sure about harder though - guess that depends on if you steal? My partner and I have been stealing like mad - he's found a few motifs by stealing, I haven't found a one yet (early days... ^.^).

I've found exactly 5 rare motifs since launch, not counting Dwemer, and 3 of them relatively recently. I went months without looting a single one. RNG is wonderful like that.

For what it's worth, Daedric and Ancient Elf drop only in VR6+ zones, so you can't find these two yet.

Yeah, I think I found two Barbaric and two Primals in the Silver zones.

Not sure how the bank/castle in Wayrest are doing now with the Justice System, but a friend just parked his toon there every night before he logged off (after checking all containers) and then when he logged on in the morning he'd check the containers again before he went on with his day.

He has found a ton of rare motifs that way.

Found another daedric the other from I spot I frequent (I think this is #6 or 7 for daedric, but also found an acient elf and imperial in the same spot too) the other night, so rare motifs still drop post 1.6. Though I will say I am not meeting the usual 1 rare/hour rate that I sued to get.

There is a castle. It's way out in the later VR zones if you are AD for instance. I go there to rest up on typical quest / delve grouping.

But yeah, most of my motifs that I've gotten in total have been from that one location.

It's also an obvious place to go to loot tons of blue+ quality fence items to get 10k+ gold a day at a minimum.

I'd say check out guild vendors honestly, the most I've ever paid for a motif was 20k.

I found ~10 or so purple and I am just in the second zone silver cadwell. I still didn't find anything yet after update 6, but it is too early to tell. Locked houses are really decreased the opportunities to find the motifs...
